Another, "Is This Normal?" Thread

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 12/20 and had my first fill on 1/31 - 3ccs in a small band.:omg:

Here's the worst part - I lost 3 lbs in February. Only 3 freakin' pounds!! I have lost no pounds in March. I have had some NSV's like I have lost over 30 inches off of my body (7 inches on thighs alone). I started as a size 20 and now I am wearing 14's.

I am working out 6 days per week - a mixture of cardio, strength and weight training. I am getting 60-80 grams of Protein per day. I am not drinking while eating. I am getting at least 48 oz of Water in daily - usually more. I am taking my Vitamins.

My daily caloric intake is averaging around 1300. I keep a daily food journal and have faithfully documented everything that I have eaten since 12/13 (pre-op diet).

What else should I do? Is it possible that I need another fill? I don't feel hungry between meals and I know that my meals are much smaller than pre-band but I am frustrated with the scales.

Has anyone else experienced a 4-week plateau? What broke it?

I was banded 9-6-06 and was doing wonderful. Until november. I only lost 4 pounds. Dec caught a stomach virus and had to let all fill out for three weeks. Had the fill put back and lost 10 pounds. I am still at a stand still. I have lost 50 pounds in 6 months. I lost the majority during the first two months and only 15 since. I too was wearing a 20-22 but can now wear a 12 in pants and 16 in a top. I want to get back to losing at least 2lbs per week and I can't seem to do it. I would love some insight as well. I don't want to get another fill. Twice I have been filled too much and it is horrible. I am at 1.2cc. My veryfirst fill, they put me at 1.8 and I couldn't even hold down Water 4 hours later. I am going to try and choose different food items and change up my workout routine. I will let you know how it goes. Hang in there. We will get to our goal.

Hold up! Don't be so hard on yourself, you are gaining muscle. That is why the scale hasn't budged much. Muscle weighs three times more than fat. You said it yourself, you are losing inches. That's the key.

Also take heart in the fact that the more muscle you have, the more calories you will burn. I watched "You On a Diet with Dr. Michael Roizen" last night and he mentioned something about muscle burning something like 50 calories for every calorie that fat can burn.

Congratulations on getting in shape!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
