I use powdered whey Protein too, 30 gm/serving. I bought some Dutch chocolate and instant Decaf coffee to add occasionally, along with Stevia sweetener. It's actually quite good.

I've added the unflavored whey Protein to Soup and it works very well. No flavor problems at all. Stir it into the cold Soup and then heat it all together and it's an easy way to get some protein in.

My favorite is Click Mocha Espresso Decaf. It's only 15 grams/serving but added to 1 1/2 c milk (12 gm protein), I think it's a good source of protein. I then add Water and ice if I have it and love it. It's a bit spendier than other Proteins @ ca $20 on Amazon, but it tastes so good that I'm going to continue with it.

Good luck on your choices. I think I will always use some Protein drinks, but when we graduate to more regular foods, I think they will be less important. Always good for fallback however.

There is a ton of information on the New Whey Protein shots. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/220833-the-new-whey-protein-38-shoot/?hl=%2Bnot+%2Ball+%2Bprotein+%2Bcreated+%2Bequal#entry2447293

Might be worth a read, My nut doesn't' want me using them, there are better quality options around.

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
