December Fitness Challenge

Recommended Posts

Before we start January, I have a question, however. As you know, I aspire to be a runner. So would "STICK TO C25K LIKE GLUE" be in the right vein? It's measurable by the phone app, sooooooo.....maybe?

LOL....I think thats a fine goal.

Also....there's a C25K thread. If you can read it from start to finish before the end of January you get a free santa running beard.....almost new.

Day #20 Insanity, and final day of December Challenge:

I went back to the first page of this thread to see what my goals were; I succeeded beyond the goal on Insanity participation, I aimed for 15 and did 20, but sadly the weight loss goal was missed entirely, even though my eating has been near flawless and very low carb and low cal. My strength is definitely up, as is my ability and my recovery time. The Insanity program is 60 days, so this will continue for the January Challenge too. Since my body refuses to lose weight (wtf), my new challenge will be to concentrate on form and doing the full exercises instead of modifying, even if I can only do 2 reps, and to do at least 20 classes. Also to do weights every day that I do Insanity.

Well, here I am to finish out the end of the month, got in a another 7 miles, and another strength session, but I have now come down with bronchitis, so won't be able to add anymore to my total today( I'm off work and feel like c***p, can't even talk or I start to cough, hope the antibiotic kicks in soon.) So. MTD-107 miles, 10 yoga classes, 10 strength sessions, I kind of fell off doing the plank thing, got up to 25 seconds, maybe will try it again next month, I will be in for January, can't wait to add in my eliptical and bike. Even if I lose weight slowly, I will be a fit slow loser. Ha! fat, take that!

Hit my goal for the month- 12 hrs of exercise. Started out really strong, but a strained back has forced me to take it easy for the last couple of weeks. Just happy I made it to my goal and made some decent strength and endurance gains.

I'm starting this planking challange with my girl friends from work. I tried one a few months back and ended up giving up less than half way through the month. My goal is to not give up, even if its less time than the challange calls for I don't want to give up.

Hey everyone. Great job this month. It's been tough I know, but I'm proud of all of you who are still working it. I surpassed my swimming goal....I got 10,300 meters. But fell 15 miles short of my running miles with only 105.

I've started the January challenge.

Here it is....

I finished the month at 78.65 miles, a little short of my 100 mile goal. So I am going forward in the January Challenge and have already signed up for 100 miles and the 30 day plank challenge!

I've been totally side-lined for the past two weeks with a crappy cold which is still hanging on and seems to have morphed into another cold just when I thought I was getting over it. So I've been reading everyones accomplishments and I send you all my best wishes for continued health and fitness in 2014! Y'all are an inspiring bunch!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
