Hello, Does anyone know if there's any meet up support groups in New York?

I was banded at NYU and I know they have a support group once a month. I don't go because ...I get my support here. There was talk of some of us New York folk getting together over the summer but it sorta fizzled out.

I would LOVE to have a mini meet & greet in NYC. I was also banded at NYU and have only attended a seminar conducted by Dr. Warren Huberman about how to overcome over eating last Nov.

readysetgo611 is in Brooklyn. I think she might also be interested. I saw Huberman for the psyche consult the insurance company required.

Hey, I will come to the city for a meet and greet. I live in Orange County, NY. I could take the train to the city. I was looking for some kind of meet and greet to talk to other banders. Most people don't understand what we go through and it is hard to get support sometimes.

I'm in. Also..I used to live in Orange County...Middletown and Monroe. Let's see if others are interested as well.

Me too. I lived in Blooming Grove. It was really nice there but I worked in NYC and the commute was just too much for me. This was before the train went into Penn Station via the Secaucus transfer and the bus was the only way to get in.

I don't think I lived in NY at that time. When I take the train out of Harriman it has always transferred into the city.

I moved here in 2000, but I probably took the train for the first time in 2003. We use to drive into the city but then I found the train was much easier. I am originally from California.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
