Eating Too Fast?

Recommended Posts

I'm a week post OP and I don't know I feel strange not sure if it's normal. I've been doing my liquids and I think I'm either taking too much or too fast or both. After I take anything I feel like there is a lump low in my thoat and there is dull ache in the middle of my back. Anyone else experience this?

sounds like a sign to slow down..take baby sips and take your time

you are still very swollen inside and i recall only doing baby sips...

its gets better......just hang in there

agree with carolinagirl, sometimes my first bite of a meal i eat it to fast and not chew enough and i get the same feeling as you are describing. i wait a few min's and try again with smaller bites or sips in your case and slow it down. you are still swollen from surgery. if slowing down doesn't help. some ppl like warm, not hot, warm drinks like tea. just sipping very slowly. also a ice pack may help. sit straight up and down don't slouch. and do a walk around your living room to help things move. it is rough at your specific time of recovery. hang in there.

It has been so long ago for me, but I agree with every one. Slow down a bit when u eat and drink. Use faster strokes when u exercise, lol

True Results gave me a little bag of goodies including a one minute hourglass timer that is proving invaluable for teaching me how to eat at the proper pace. I have my bite size down and I am chewing like a fiend. I still want to rush... And the timer pulls me back and reminds me to slow down. Now, while my band is loose is good training training time for me, I have a little latitude before I start getting my first adjustments. :)

I hope that you are doing well. It has been a while since you wrote this! The icy one, that sounds fntastic a samll 1 minute timer. I never heard of it, but sounds good to me. It is a great way to pratice slow eating.

Doing all right, thank you. :D I am still trying to regulate my gut... It is stubborn but unrelated to my surgery recovery, which is going swimmingly. :D I love my little hourglass... I never realized, before I started using it just how fast I used to gulp my food down. I still have to fight with myself to use my timer and slow down. It is going to take time for me to relearn how to pace myself. LOL Happily, that little tool is a big help to me. I kind of love it. :D

It is very likely that your body is telling you that you are eating too fast, especially when you have to ask! :-)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
