I got a script filled for Prilosec before I left the hospital with instructions to take when I got home. Birth control I started 2 1/2 months out but that's not because I couldn't it was because I never took it before and needed a script.

I did have to open the capsule and swallow the little tiny pills inside. :) I wasn't allowed to swallow the whole capsule. Is the reflux bad?? It was for me the first month. I ran out of my Prilosec a month out and never refilled it. I was able to control it as long as I ate regularly but it's been coming back and I now hafta get a script again. Sigh

Reflux can get bad in some. I took my Prilosec the first month, then thought I was ok. I didn't take it for 2 months because I could control it food. I'm back on it now needless to say I need it lol

I was instructed to stop taking my bcp a month before surgery, but to resume them immediately. I CONTINUED (I had severe reflux from a slipped band) my Prilosec the day after getting home from the hospital (in capsule form).

Never had a problem with pills. The only thing I took in liquid was my post op liquid Vicodin. It's good stuff. Much better than the pill form! :o

Due to new stomach size, bc pills do not work the same as the body cannot absorb it as before, so you can get pregnant... I changed to the patch instead of the shots, bc weight gain is higher with the shots!... Talk to your Docs and/or GYN!

11 months out, total weight loss of 100lbs!... Best decision ever!... Trying for a baby! ;)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
