Memily 86 Posted November 30, 2013 So I am now 6 days post op, for the most part I am feeling fairly well. I had some heart burn making it hard to get my Water and Protein in but I take a heart burn med in the AM and am now able to drink water just like I did pre- surgery Woohoo! My biggest pain now is standing up from a sitting position or bending over. I think the incision area that hurts the most is where they took my stomach out. Any ideas or suggestion on how to ease this pain? If it wasn't for this one area I wouldn't need my meds, I really feel great otherwise.
endless80 697 Posted November 30, 2013 Oh that large incision site is the worst! It took 2 weeks for that to stop screaming at me. Especially when I stood up. Some say a pillow but that didn't work for me. Holding it in with my hand helped when walked... but good old fashioned patience will work the best.
DeniseM 238 Posted November 30, 2013 Are you wearing a compression garment? Mine was a life saver! My large incision was like a knife in my side for three weeks, and wearing the compression garment every day really helped. I got mine from my surgeon's office, but you can buy them from a local medical supply store, or online like this one http://www.amazon.com/Style-Abdominal-Adjustable-Compression-ContourMD/dp/B004A6N5RA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1385851352&sr=8-1&keywords=velcro+compression+garment 1 Aline728 reacted to this
