Surgery was Tuesday, I'm on Day 5, actually only day 3 of Clear Liquids since the first 2 I was still with an IV. I can tell I'm having way more head hunger at this point than anything else. Hubby just got home from GNC with some Isopure, gonna try that. Seriously looking forward to a Protein Shake next week. Mmmmm.....just remembered I can have a sugar-free Popsicle!

"Back to the store hubby!" Haha!

I am 5 days out and head hunger is my only problem at this time. Can't wait for this phase to be over.

Buckle down for 3 weeks, ladies. It gets MUCH better when you hit day 7, day 11... But when you hit the mushies - it's awesome!

Hang in there :)

My friend who had her surgery three weeks before me and I were talking today about the difference in how far we've progressed.

I am 10 days out, was never on a liquid diet or Protein shakes, ate pureed food while in the hospital and will be moving to soft food this coming week. She had her surgery three weeks before me, was on liquid and Protein Shakes for weeks before and after, and is just now starting to eat similarly to me...and she's scared to eat sometimes.

I'm no rocket scientist, but I think that my surgeon has the correct plan going on. I have more energy than my friend, I'm losing 1 to 2 pounds a day, and I'm not scared to eat. That being said, I'm "only" eating 1/4 cup of pureed food, three times a day. And two cups of milk for Snacks.

It will get better - I was able to get over that hungry feeling with a couple of sips of Water. Makes me wonder if it was hunger or maybe some acid in my stomach or something.

I'm on puree right now - I'm loving refried beans!

Refried Beans are a puréed godsend. That,by far, has been my favorite puréed meal. Little bit of queso fresco and sour cream and sometimes some salsa. Yumm-O!!

Thanks all! It really helps to hear others tell me I can do it and to hang in there. I'm defiantly dealing with "head hunger" which is how I got to this point originally. I truly believe I have an addiction to food, and like any other addiction its one day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time like its been today. The things I've done for my food! I refuse to wreck my surgery! I'm so determined!

Now if I could get my butt to a meeting!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
