bearman99 228 Posted January 7, 2014 There is no evidence preop compliance has correlation to post op success (per NUT and Surgeon) or failure. That said. Will you cheat? That answer is YOUR answer. If you cheat preop, will you cheat post op? 1 LindafromFlorida reacted to this

That answer is YOUR answer. No. Of all the people to cheat, I'm not cheating me.

wendym22 34 Posted January 11, 2014 My pre-opp diet was over Thanksgiving... It was hard to stick the diet. I managed to only slip up 2x- once on Thanksgiving I had 1/2 cup of mash potatoes and a week before my surgery I had 1 slice of pizza. I also need to mention that instead of doing the liquid diet for 2 wks I was idiot and put myself on it for 3 wks (hoping I would lose more pre-op weight) so that was added pressure I put on myself. I would not recommend it:) best of luck to you
KatieOkieDokie 171 Posted January 11, 2014 I will admit that i cheated. I was on a four week pre-opt diet and Easter was at the start of my last week of the diet. I didn't eat during the dinner..I watched everyone else. However, after they all went out to do the egg hunt I took a few bites of green Beans, and ham. Then a few days later I took a bite of Pasta, and ate a piece of bread. I had a harder time after surgery though. I was so tired of only liquids.
megpie 20 Posted January 11, 2014 Honest time! I cheated for two days in a row when I was only a week out! I stuffed my face with puff chips and they were GOOD. The guilt was worse than I imagined. But then the third day I woke up and reached for those chips and thought to myself "is this really worth it? Did I really just go through this whole thing just to stick to my old habits?" I threw the bag away and after about a week i didn't even want it anymore.
penman53 493 Posted January 20, 2014 This surgery is nothing to take lightly. If you are not following your preop diet then your spleen will not shrink enough for them do the surgery laproscopily. You will end up waking up from surgery with a huge incision where they had to open you up to do the surgery wich will greatly complicate your recovery. Don't be a bone head, follow your doctors orders please. If you can't follow the preop how in the world do you think you can follow your lifelone meal plan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
