Rule Follower - Looking For Monthly Meal Plan?

Recommended Posts

Hello all my fellow bandsters!

I am just about 6 weeks out from my LB surgery and I get my first fill Monday - I've been very good following the rules from the surgeon and nutritionist but I'm looking for a meal program to take the guess work out and give me more structure. In the past, I did really well on Jenny Craig for this exact reason - everything I was supposed to eat was written out for me and it worked - is there any such book out there that gives you a month menu of Breakfast, lunch & dinner that are band safe and spelled out?

I've primarily been eating eggs for breakfast, turkey lettuce wraps with hummus for lunch and fish for dinner. If I get hungry I eat either cottage cheese or a Protein Shake & to seal off the day one SF pudding.

I'm not in the green zone yet and I've only lost about 13lbs since surgery (the 2lbs a week that my expectations are set at) I'm hungry more often however a few bites of chicken or turkey usually satisfy real quick but there's got to be a better plan than this!????

So I'm looking for some good suggestions on menu/cook books out there - anyone??

Of course this is only the food side of the LB solution - this has nothing to do with exercise - I know it takes that side too :)

Looking for suggestions!

Cheers

Hi cc. Welcome to banded life. I don't have any suggestions regarding a book or some other type of information regarding what meals to make/eat. I can only give you my thoughts as someone who has been banded almost a year now. I found that for me, following a basic weight watchers type of program has been very successful. I basically stick with 3 oz. Protein, 1/2 cup veggies, and 1/4 cup of carbs. I even have dessert....sugar free pudding/jello...even 100 calorie cookies/ice cream once in a while. I also track everything in myfitnesspal to give me an idea of my calorie/protein/sugar/sodium intake and to keep me compliant.

This is for me, a very easy plan to follow without a whole lot of guess work. I also change it up alot.....fish, chicken, meat. This way I don't get bored and stray to poor choices.

One more thing. You ask about band safe foods. While some bandsters have difficulty with certain foods, everyone has different experiences so don't presume there are any foods that are not safe to eat. I eat everything, just in band sized portions and as you can see from my ticker, have had great success this year.

Good luck to you and can't wait for your first NSV (non scale victory) post.

Ditto....exactly...

I'm about 9 weeks out of surgery and I'm eating 3 meals plus one small snack (between lunch and dinner). During the week at work, I'm usually eating some kind of hot or cold Cereal w/milk. For lunch at work usually chicken, tuna, or egg salad w/ light mayo and some kind of crackers. Snack is usually baby bel light cheeses or cottage cheese. And dinner is 3-4 oz Protein, 1/2 c. veggie, 1/4 c. carb.

I use fitness pal as well and its nice not to be journaling everything.

But I eat everything and go for smaller portions and have been happy with the results so far....loving lap-band life!

Hope that helps in some way!

my doctor gave me this plan to follow per meal. 3 meals a day .

Calories-300-400

protein----20g

carbs-----15-30g

fat-------5g

sugar---5g

total intake for calories a day is 1000-1200

i try and follow this as well as i can. but it seems as if my fat is always higher and my calories lower. it's going to be one of my talks come this monday. my fat intake is things like avocados, etc. not butter or oil. she also wants me to concentrate on keeping it a cup or less of food. hope this helps.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
