Helpful Apps- Looking For Opinions--So Far I Have Myfitnesspal And Live Strong

Recommended Posts

I'm wanting to start to keep track of everything-food, exercise, weight, everything… There are two main applications that I'm aware of – one is called MyFitnessPal and the end there is live Strong… From what I could tell, both have pretty much The same features but, I thought I would see if anyone has tried either application and greater detail and had suggestions or thoughts on one over the other. Any information would be appreciated... The only thing that I'm finding about MyFitnessPal so far that I don't like is that I can't go backwards and enter and weights or measurements or anything like that so that's a bit perturbing. I know there are more apps out there too – I and trying to keep it budget friendly but I'm okay with a couple of dollars if it's worth it. I'd appreciate any buddies information or feedback.

thanks a bunch, and blessings

I also see 'lose it' around here sometimes. I use MFP and find it easy.

Map my run is a good app for tracking runs/walks/hikes/ bike rides.

There is a map my walk, map my run, map my ride....they are all exactly the same just with different names.

So I'm a big fan of caloriecount.about.com ...it's free, they have a phone app (also free) and you can log things from anywhere. I tried MFP but I wasn't a fan of the way you enter the amount of food you consume (in all honesty though I tried it well over 2 years ago it could be better now.)

But with CC, you can enter almost any food by serving, grams, cups, ounces, tablespoons, etc. It's very flexible. And I love the way you enter your exercise, and of course you can store favorites, etc. You can also list things under exercise, like Snow Shoveling, or Vaccuuming...if you wanted to "count" that as your exercise.

It's worth checking out since it's free.

Oh and great way to kick start your weight loss, I'm a big fan of tracking what you eat, exercise, etc. Being "aware" instead of just thinking, "oh I ate a handful" is really a great way to start being accountable, so kudos to you for jumping in with that!

One of the new features on my fitness pal is the bar scan which works great -quick and easy and the database of foods is vast.

Question on the map my run if anyone knows- can you use both map my run and c25k at the same time? It would be an easy way to see what your speed or how close to the actual 5k you are getting.

Yes map my run will run in the back ground but with my c25k app it mapped the distance for me so I didn't need it. Plus it would not run in the background. If I minimized it, it would stop. I use "ease into 5k".

I too like calorie count. I tried myfitnesspal first but found the iPhone app cumbersome. The calorie count app was much easier to use for my needs. At this point I'm just recording all food consumed.

Thanks Mr. Bean.

I use mynetdiary as an app and on the web site. This was because for whatever reason at the critical point the MFP app wouldn't download onto my phone. They seem similar, though.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
