Hello ,

Sorry again I have more questions.I am 5 days post operative. I haven't had any nausea or vomiting fluids and pureed food go down fine. Today for Breakfast I had about 3 ounces of oatmeal. lunch I had about 3 ounces of egg drop Soup. For dinner I had 3 ounces of low fat yogurt and later 3 ounces of low fat cottage cheese. This seems like a lot of food. Is this normal for most or to much?

You are chowing mushies five days out? I was allowed to go mush at seven days. Yum! If your doc says that the mushies are okay for you, I don't think that it sounds like an unreasonable amount of food. I do about half a cup to three quarters cup per meal. To each their own. As long as you are eating properly and not taking in too many calories, you're probably okay. :)

I agree with others. If this is YOUR surgeon's diet, you should be fine! It doesn't sound like an enormous amount of food. I have to add, that you are lucky to be able to advance that quickly, my surgeon makes us do Clear liquids for a week following surgery. :(

Its normal for hunger to return days after surgery. Weight loss & the decreased hunger will not happen until ur fills begin & foods (especially in large amounts) will become difficult to hold in ur small pouch.

Any weightloss right now will be from ur own dieting efforts.

So u've gotta limit ur own mushies right now. Until the band kicks in.

Follow what your doctor says... I'm surprised you can eat mushie food (oatmeal) 5 days post-op.... just shows you that each doctor is different. I didn't get mushies until the third week :(

Just take it slow.

My preop diet sounds very similar. Week 1 is Clear Liquids. Then two weeks of softer things. 3-4 weeks until puree foods.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
