I never thought I would see 135 lbs again. Everyone says there is a bounce back and I was trying to get used to the idea since I could not seem to lose any of the weight I regained.

I've had really good success with the 5:2 way of eating. It helped me from grazing and snacking. I don't know why really, because I could have just given up and started grazing and snacking again. I was so sad though, that there were so many clothes that I loved that I coudn't wear anymore. So I followed the rules of the diet and slowly lost my 15 lb regain.

Now I know that even though I am in maintenance, I have to keep following the original rules of being sleeved. Protein first, veggies and only good carbs if there is room ( and there never is) Treats and Snacks need to be a rare thing not as part of my regular meal plan.< /p>

Thank God for the sleeve. I still have good restriction if I eat what I am supposed to eat and not chips and cookies!

Congratulations! How wonderful for you.

I have a question. Will you continue to do 5:2 or will you move to a maintenance diet now?

I will definitely continue the 5:2. I think it's a great way to eat in maintenance .

The thing is, the low calorie days are not that hard. It's not like really fasting where you just don't eat. I love having control over my eating back. 5:2 seems to help me with control.

How will you keep from losing weight while doing it? Just eat more on feast and fast days?

I don't think I will have any trouble not losing anymore weight. I think the problem will be bouncing up a few lbs on feast days. I don't really feast though. I eat normally. I gain weight very easily. All it takes is going out to dinner, which I do frequently.

I had my resting metobolic test taken so I know I can eat 1300 calories to maintain. That helped also.

Congrats and welcome back to the goalies bench! I'm glad 5:2 worked so well for you! Where did you get your resting metabolic rate tested? I've been considering getting my body fat tested in a bod pod. We have one locally. Lynda

I have not been on the forum for some time....and I need to come back! Just passed my 2 year anniversary and like just about everyone I am very happy; this is the best decision I ever made.

But I have gained 5 lbs over the last 2 months...(I was on vacation much of it). And losing it is proving very hard. I was at my goal weight for a year......can someone tell me what the 5:2 is?

Congrats, OD!! You have done so well with the 5:2, you are one of my role models for sure.

Hi QoC, nice to see you again! The 5:2 is very simple, I've been doing it since June (along with paleo-ish). There are some posts here in the Veterans Forum about it, with some good links to read. If you can't find it, let me know and I can send some via email.

Oregondaisy

ahhhhhh - GOAL :)

better the 2nd time around??? ;)

nice to see B) your cute self again - you are so small i almost missed you!!!!!

the goal room has not been the same in your absence - now we can start to breathe again!!! ;)

i don't think newbies et al can ever be reminded too often, that regain can and DOES happen

you must continue to follow the rules, new lifestyle you learned, for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life

you might be able to be a little more lax sometimes on this or that

but the basics, Protein, Water, Water, and water - will always apply!!!!!

chips/cookies/ice cream/candy...........et al (oh no i'm drooling :( )

these things were put on earth to test us foodaholics, and to just drive us/me crazy!!!!

egads!!!! i always will have to watch out for demons like those

but oh well..............

OD - you bring "class" to our humble group LOL

i'm glad to see you back on the right "block" :)

see you around the neighborhood :D :)

kathy

congrats

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
