SoCalMomOfFour 36 Posted November 30, 2013 I'm 36 years old, but didn't want to tell my parents about my plan to get sleeved. Well, yesterday I told them and not only were they cool about it, my mom offered to go to Mexico with me to support me! (My husband is going to stay home with our kids) my question is: will there be a time at OCC when they plop my giant butt on a scale in front of my mom? She's been skinny her whole life, so even though she knows I'm fat I really don't need the judgment of HOW fat.
TurnThePage 220 Posted November 30, 2013 Highly unlikely, but if the situation arises, ask you mom to step out of the room or tell the medical person you want to do this in private. Yay for your mom, going along to support you! You're very lucky she's got your back!
goofy219 11 Posted November 30, 2013 Just got back from there. No. The nutritionist will way you when she calls you back to discuss the diet. You can allow your mom to go back or she can wait in the lobby. It's your choice. Good luck. I went by myself.
Kindle 8,667 Posted November 30, 2013 I'm 45 and was afraid to tell my folks, too. My older sister talked me into it. After the initial "oh no!" response, they were both very supportive. I sent them a lot of the researched I'd done as well as links to these forums. My sister is going with me, otherwise they would have. My dad even offered to drive his motor home to San Diego so I could recover in the warm southern Cali sunshine after leaving TJ. Unfortunately I've got 3 dogs, 3 cats and 2 horses to get home yo, so I'll be recovering in the snow covered Idaho mountains. And my mom has thanked me several times for fessing up. Parents are actually pretty great! Good luck at OCC. I'll be there on the 20th.

Glad yours were cool about it too! 1 Kindle reacted to this

healthbound1 69 Posted November 30, 2013 I haven't told my parents yet. In fact I have only told 2 people. I want to tell my parents but I don't want them to worry so I am planning to tell them after. My surgery is next Wednesday. 1 HoosierGirl reacted to this
