BetsyB0101 25 Posted January 8, 2014 I know what you mean Cherryhair! First I bought some children's Tylenol meltaways. I thought that would be easier to take than liquid. I would have had to take 6 for 480 mg and when I put the first one in my mouth it tasted like pure sugar. So I spit it out. I ended up taking the Lortab elixir the doctor gave me just a few minutes ago. I hope it doesn't make me sick. I am hurting pretty bad though. I ate some Jello too. Hoping that helps prevent some of the nausea. My poor tummy feels like it was run over by a truck. I think they had me on some REALLY good drugs at the hospital... I was feeling pretty good there. I felt the same way but decided to go ahead and take the hydrocodone the surgeon prescribed. I've been on it for about a week straight which is why I tried to switch over to the children's Tylenol won't try that again. The pain is getting better though moving in and out of bed was the worse. Hang in there in between the pain you'll have moments of elation-we're on our way!
ReaRaes 49 Posted January 8, 2014 Betsy, at your next appointment or else call your doc and request some more anti - nausea meds. It is best to take the meds they prescribe if you need something to relieve pain rather than chancing it with something else. This soon after surgery the last thing you want to do is start puking and rip open sutures or pull staples.
BetsyB0101 25 Posted January 8, 2014 Thanks Cherryhair! When was your surgery? And I am in a recliner now. Lol. Not sure I won't stay here for the night.

vicki1205 20 Posted January 8, 2014 I've been reading posts and feel like I'm the only one who is terrified of the surgery. I cannot sleep at night, all i can think about is what can go wrong during and after the surgery. I'm scared I'm going to die in surgery. I did all my pre op tests and every thing was good but I am just really scared. My family is also worried about it. My starting weight was 297 current weight is 286 surgery is scheduled for the 15th. I'm on my pre op diet and starting Sunday I'll start on my liquid diet. Any suggestions as to what I can do to think better thoughts? Please help! Thanks! Reborn@50 15 Posted January 8, 2014 Vicki Fear is normal, it's the unknown, that is the main culprit. Accept that you are scared don't deny it or try to cover it up. Embrace fear, it's what makes us compassionate and keeps us on proper paths. Like the proper path you are taking with your health, and it is a tough brave choice. Bit nothing great in life, comes without great sacrifices or taking great chances. Where and who is doing your surgery and what type?
vicki1205 20 Posted January 8, 2014 Reborn I am having open rny my surgeon is Dr Lana Nelson in okla. My sister had her and got the sleeve and did awesome over a year ago. And my sister had her for another surgery and did great with that surgery as well and dr nelson is an awesome doctor. I had a lap band over 7 yrs ago by another doctor that perforated my stomach and I didn't know it until 4 days later and had many complications from it and almost died. So I guess that's why I am so scared. The Dr that did my lap band no longer practices.

Cherryhair 88 Posted January 8, 2014 Thanks Cherryhair! When was your surgery? And I am in a recliner now. Lol. Not sure I won't stay here for the night. My surgery was on 12/30 last Monday so I'm right there with you. I have slept in the recliner a couple times and it has been pretty comfortable. My biggest challenge right now is getting in at least 800 calories-never thought I'd be saying that. My Protein and liquid #'s are good but I've only been eating about 400-500 cals- don't want my metabolism to slow.

I was just talking to my co worker about this yesterday. I can't sleep at night, thinking about the surgery..I have read stories of revision patients coming out with just the band removed, having to wait months for the bypass..I'm doing revision, so I am very nervous that this may happen....omg!!!
