I Lost My Daughter-In-Law

Recommended Posts

Relax, relax. She's fine. What I mean by the topic title is that when I was at my son and daughter-in-law's house for Thanksgiving last night, I was talking to her mom and she he knows about the lapband so I had no issues discussing details with her. When she asked how much weight I had lost, I told her it was now around 95 lbs.

She said, 'really? Do you realize that's what Debbie weighs'. ...and suddenly I realized...OMG...I've been literally carrying around another person all this time. I know we often say of someone who has lost alot of weight that they're half their size and while I haven't actually lost half my size, I really have lost a whole person. And not just a 'virtual' person, but the person who was right in front of me cooking dinner.< /p>

What an amazing visual that was. I pictured carrying her around on my back and realized that was what I had done to myself. I'm proud of the loss yet truly disturbed by having gotten so heavy. In my head, I will keep a picture of me carrying Debbie on my back and hope that this will really help me if I find myself not being compliant in the future.

I think it will really help me to keep the weight off as that is my focus now.

PS: I hope everyone had a wonderful and successful day yesterday.

Isn't it amazing how much we carried around. No wonder we couldn't walk up stairs or play with our kids/grandkids.

Congrats on your loss that is wonderful.

That is GREAT...it is crazy when you think of what we carry and are losing. Im down 50lbs but I often think of that as 10 - 5 lb bags of potatoes. Try going to the store and picking all that up in your arms at once. It blows my mind.

I can't imagine how it feel to lose 100, 125, 150 and more like many here have been successful doing....However, I do look forward to that day.

Thanks for sharing that great story!

Its amazing to think that we used to carry around that much weight. My 7 year old weights about 50 pounds and I've lost about 53 pounds thus far, and when I had to carry her up the stairs to her bedroom, I about died. Then it dawned on me...no wonder I huffed and puffed up the stairs...I used to carry all that weight on my person! I'm so happy and proud for you!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
