I'm preop and I hate the holidays! People you haven't seen all year giving you the once over. I want to just yell I know I'm fatter than last year but just wait until next year!

I had surgery on 11/19. I had someone ask me when will it start working. I just said a prayer and shook my head. For some ignorance is truly bliss.

My husbands family is so overweight, but they all comment in my weight, up or down. My mother in law used to work for weight watchers ( oh the irony), and is now about 100 lbs overweight....she keeps asking me for my diet secrets. They don't know about my surgery; they've made their thoughts on that well known. The weird thing us, they comment about weight in a very shaming way, but they also make a ridiculous amount of unhealthy food, and then comment as everyone eats it. It's like a family if alcoholics having an open bar. Very weird and dysfunctional.

It is weird how some people and families deal with weight, almost like because they are living it and not looking in, its like they have no clue what they are doing wrong.

I dated a guy once with diabetes, we went to his parents for dinner all thru dinner his mom lectured him on how he needs to control it but at the same time telling him to eat more potatoes and they make pie....I finally had to speak up and told her she was part of his problem to stop feeding him...she looked at me with bewilderment ...that was a short relationship lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
