Okay back from the surgeons office he looked at the infection and was wearing gloves and was squeezing it to try to see if there was more puss he made it bleed which indicated no more puss in the infection. So he looked at the lab results taken by another doctor and I have your garden variety infection so he said the antibiotics that were prescribed by the ER were correct. To continue taking them for 7 days every 12 hours and not to use the bacitration anymore but to continue covering it with gauze so as to let it breathe.

Well that's great news. Keep following the docs orders and you'll be right as rain in no time.

Im happy to report that there is no more discharge on the gauze so the wound is healing making its own protective seam. Thank God. One more day on antibiotics. Also I was prescribed Iron and Vitamin D for deficiencies. The Vitamin D gives dry mouth and urinating at night as a side effect which i hate and I am more thirsty. I only got 1 more week on those Vitamins then I continue to take my liquid Vitamins.

I take 10,000 iu of vitamin d every week and I had no idea that was what was making me constantly get up so many times to pee. I learn something new every day.

Well Id like to say that the incision is itchy which i heard is a sure sign that its healing nicely now. I still keep it covered with a sterile gauze so it can breath no creams or ointments. I finished the antibiotics. I see the surgeon on the 12th of dec so he will evaluate my condition further. I wonder can I use sugar free metamucil to help with bowel movements. Can I get some feedback for that. Thanks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
