Thanksgiving Dinner

Recommended Posts

I say never feel bad. Keep your head, eat sensibly....and be happy about your decisions. We all wanna be normal right? Well normal people have a treat or 2 on thanksgiving. Enjoy a sleevers portion and don't beat yourself up about it. Just make sure what you do eat will not set off your cravings later on.

I think you should enjoy yourself today and not worry about calories. I had my sleeve on July 29 I ve lost 90lbs and I'm celebrating my journey and how thankful I am that I had this surgery. Today I am eating what I want and not counting it on mfp. I am celabrating the fact that last year I could have ate two plates of food and now I can barely eat a fourth of all that. So yes today I'm gonna try all that wonderful food and be stuffed just like last year but with way less food in my new tummy.

I thought it was an incredible experience today to just have a bit of all the good stuff. This sleeve is amazing!

And it was shocking to see how much everyone else ate. I used to out-eat everyone with 2 full plates of everything, and then I'd start on the leftovers as soon as everyone left. Gosh. The change is phenomenal.

I had my sleeve this September and while I wasn't worried about Thanksgiving, I was curious. It's pot luck with my family so I brought a FF cream cheese crab dip, sweet potato oven fries and a high Protein mushroom stroganoff so that I'd have something besides turkey breast to eat. I too was shocked at how much everyone ate because I know I could have out paced everyone last year.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
