I have a problem with chicken also. Kinda breaks my heart. I don't get it. I love chicken in any way, shape or form. Almost have issues with red meat also unless it's really, really tender. Ground turkey is fine as is pork. I crave vegetables but I know they are not priority.

I get my Protein in as I should because I can't tolerate the Protein drinks or powders. Those alone make me want to hurl and I would rather eat dirt.

What's working a little better for me is chicken in the crockpot or the pressure cooker. It's SO easy to make in the crockpot. If you are also feeding a family, it's good for everyone. I take an onion and slice it, and put it in the bottom of the crockpot. Then I place a whole chicken or some dark meat like thighs with bones and cook it for 4 hours on high or 8 hours on low. No Water added! It's so much more moist and edible, like a rotisserie chicken, except better. I use it for all kinds of things through the week.

the other thing that works for me is to take that chicken and put it into a kitchenaid bowl and shred it like restaurants do. It comes out really fine, and if you mix that with a little mayo, it's finely shredded chicken salad and that goes down a lot easier.

I can't do beef in chunks but ground beef or ground chicken works very well. A little experimenting and creativity in the kitchen helps a lot.

I have all these recipes and more on my blog, and if you are tired of shakes, try the "full liquids" high protein Soups. Nice change.

Try rubbing some Basil on the skin and put some in the chest cavity..you get the aroma of a stuffed chicken dinner...

I meant to say put a little basil on the skin of the chicken and sprinkle poultry seasoning in the chest cavity...oops!!! It has been a long day!!!!!!

Have you tried just using the powder as a base?

Combine in a Magic Bullet:

-Protein Powder (vanilla) -I'm not brave enough to buy banana or cookie dough or anything else that sounds freaky (to me)

-frozen fruit (costco has mango chunks,3 berry etc) or cocoa powder (the kind for baking not hot chocolate drink)

-greek yoghurt (0% fat)

-skim, Water or juice.

At 7 months out, food is enjoyable again, less of a chore. Still cut it into small pieces and chew well but I can eat pretty much anything and that happened almost overnight. I am making lots of pot meals as that makes most meats tender enough for my tummy.

Had my first fillet steak since surgery last weekend, managed half which is better than I hoped - my son was very happy to help me out and eat the other half :-) Had red deer loin yesterday and managed 2/3 of the portion.

I admit I had convinced myself that I couldn't eat meat other than turkey, chicken etc but it's a bit like me trying on my clothes every week to see what still fits - think I need to try new food each week as I think I might be surprised at just how wide my food repertoire is now compared to a couple of. Onths ago. Will stop me getting bored...

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
