Does sea salt have sodium in it?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I just bought some salt watchers Soup at the market and I was wondering if I seasoned it with a tiny bit of sea salt if it would defeat the purpose. A little sea salt does goes a long way.

Does anyone use it to cook with and do you notice the same Water retention side effects as with regular salt and sodium?

I am still on my pre-op diet and trying different things to see what will fly after surgery. You guys have been great. I have tried several of your liquid recipes and they have been yummy!!! (not ice cream sundea yummy, but you can't have everything)

Thanks

Wendy

The sea salt isn't any better if you're watching sodium. The main difference between the two is taste & texture (for which I personally prefer sea salt).

If you want to season without the sodium, you might want to try something like Nu-Salt or Mrs. Dash sodium free choices.

You can also try products salt substitutes that are made from potassium chloride. Morton's makes one that I think is called "No Salt" and is in the spice isle of the grocery.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
