Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Hi all. My mom will be alright. She has had ten surgeries on one knee so that knee is very fragile. She sees her orthopedic surgeon tomorrow. Her left foot's X-ray looks awful. They think its a torn ligament. Poor thing. Ultimately we are grateful she is okay but I fear for her poor knee and worry she won't be able to walk again. She's been on crutches and in a wheel chair ever since the accident on Sunday.

Oh, Jen! I'm so sorry, but you're right. Things could have turned out so much worse. Thank goodness she'll be alright.

I'm glad she's going to be okay, even if it's a long road to recovery. How did the person who hit her manage to do such a thing?!

My parents were going for a walk. They made it two houses down when their neighbor pulled into his driveway. They waited for him for pull in then walked across the driveway and without warning the guy put it in reverse and sped back. He hit y mom so hard it threw her halfway across the street! He's been their neighbor for over 20 years and didn't know who they were. He immediately accused them of planning the accident and running behind him on purpose. The reality is he didn't look. The police are involved so now it's this big ordeal when they guy couldn't just apologized and offer up his insurance info. I'm worried about mom and also selfishly annoyed that I no longer have free babysitting. I know that is terrible to say. I was just getting into routine with my trainer and now I have cancelled all sessions for the next three weeks. But you gotta do what you gotta do. I will be taking care of mom as long as she needs me!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
