Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Can't wait till I'm on soft foods. I want to eat so bad. I want lick the salt off a chip. This is going to be hard.

I know not everyone is the same, but it's been totally helpful to me to almost obsessively search for recipes for stuff I will be able to eat on the soft food phase.

I also did "cheat" tonight and made some oatmeal, but I did put it in the magic bullet to make it real smooth. It was nice for a change. I also only ate maybe 5 bites and felt "full". Or maybe satisfied is a better way to describe it. I just needed something besides Soup, after the day I've had. Hah.

When did u have surgery?

February 19. I'm on full liquids, but also yogurt and sf pudding. But I'm constantly looking for recipes and ideas for stuff I will be able to eat after my next nutrition class on the 10th.

Mmm. There is a ricotta bake on the blog The World According To Eggface. I can't wait to try it. That's an awesome site full of recipes.

So I'm 7 days out of surgery and am still feeling pretty bad. Honestly, I'm scared that I didn't make the right decision. I've had some moments where my desire to eat other foods around me outweigh the importance of this new journey. What if I have these moments and can actually eat? This is the first time that I've really questioned my strength I see this through.

I've had such a hard time getting in the recommended liquid and Protein, have lots of painful cramping and now I'm nauseated to boot. I really hope it's going to get better, but I'm feeling pretty down right now. Mostly because I haven't figured out how to listen to my new stomach. Sometimes the pain is really bad. I had my follow up appt yesterday and the surgeon said that I was doing fine. So why do I feel so bad?

I felt the same as far as pain, nausea and being depressed. I know you're tired of hearing this, but it gets better each day. But do take it easier. There are a couple of is who ripped our muscles where that internal stitch was healing. Be very careful when u bend down. Actually, try not to at first.

Keep in mind, right now your hormones are flooding your body. You're going to get mixed feelings. Your emotions are on overdrive. Just know that you are not alone.

Your tummy is numb. You will learn to feel restriction and learn to read your body's cues. It just takes time for the nerves in your tummy to come back awake.

I thought I was outta the pain woods, so I decided to take a shower. I ended up basically crying through the whole thing. I'm freaking out about the fact I have lab on monday, and what if I can't go. Cause right now the only time I'm not in pain is if I'm sitting or laying down.

I'm so mad at myself!

Does the pain meds help at all? Can u get a doc note for the few days or day u will miss ? Or maybe maybe the pain meds will be enough to get u to the class and u can tell her u have to be limited to the work u can do. I hope u get better asap!!

The pain meds help some. I could get a doctors note, and I technically can miss the lab, it'd just be the only lab I can miss this semester. Plus I have my first lab practical exam wednesday, and the one monday is a review. Soooooo, yeah. Haha. I'm just hoping for the best. Worst case I can have my dad drive/pick me up. It's more the walking I'm worried about. Blah.

Yeah I hear u. I stood back from class last week and lucky enough the schedule was one of those wacky ones where one of my days was canceled already so I only missed 2 days of one class class and 2 days of another class. They already are going going to excuse the absence but I'm not in nursing school I know it's harder to miss those classes. But I'm taking writing and it's a lot too so I keep up on the side. I just was afraid of walking the whole campus and sitting in those chairs for 3 hours and being super uncomfortable.

At least the worst is over, right?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
