Any February 2014 Sleevers?

That would make it harder. This was my sixth surgery so I felt prepared going in. It's a very safe, short surgery. You will be waking up and looking at your honey in no time! It may not be the just pleasant 2-3 days after, but that passes and you start to feel normal again.

You'll do great! I had mine done today, so if I can do it ( I was kind of a nervous wreck) you can do it too ;-) I wish you a speedy recovery!

Thank you Millergirl & Jencovi! They estimated 1.5 to 2 hours for surgery, double that if she has to repair a hiatal hernia. I am a Med/Surg RN at the hospital where I am having surgery, so I really know my surgeon and the nurses will be the same ones I work beside every day! That brings me a lot of comfort!

You'll get these pain meds soon enough! And they are pretty good. I'm partial to the liquid ones, as they work on the pain faster and better. But I do wish for some BMs to happen. Hah. Appt for surgery is the 12th??

It's not my surgery. It's the nutritionist/ psych appointment. Then I'm done with all the requirements. Hopefully that is the day I schedule the surgery!!!

They moved my surgery to Thursday instead of Friday. I'm so nervous! Does anyone else have that "What if I die" thought? It's scary!

I definitely had that thought. I was worried about leaving my daughter motherless at age 5. But I'm 8 days out and doing great! It's a normal thought. Don't worry, you'll be great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
