The first night home I cried because my family thought I was going to be able to do for them like always and I need them to do for me for once. Get Ella baby food it's great. I do have a problem with my 13 years old like to eats the fruits. This way no one will eat your stuff. Five days post op. I have horrible gas pains still. I have taking gasx it doesn't help. I walk up and down chicago blocks. They gas is still here. Anyway, it took me five days to figure out my stomach is full. I haven't throw up and hope I don't. Today I decided not to take any pain pills because I want to drive soon. Now I have questions does anyone breath smells( cuz my is horrible right now and I taste blood all the time). Do u every get dizzy and light headed even when u are full? I breakout in a sweat when I get dizzy

I have really funky breath and a bad taste in my mouth all the time. I get lightheaded. I think it's from too few calories.

My name is Pat and my surgery is scheduled for the 26th so I am getting a little apprehensive. I want to lose 80 pounds and have lost 10 so far on the Pre_Op diet. I am a food O Holic and eat any food that is in front of me so I hope I lose that urge to eat which I have been told this surgery takes the Gruelen part of your stomach away. My friends and family are against me doing this so I hope I do not regret it, I am really committed but could use some encouragement

Hi Pat, I hope, just like you that I don't regret it either but then how can I regret something that will increase my quality of life so much. You are doing this for you, and you deserve it! I wish much happiness :-)

Hi Pat! I too am a food a holic and did this surgery to get rid of my diabetes and eventually have a child ( I'm having fertility issues due to my weight). I had surgery on feb 13 and thankfully I had no complications. About the hunger part I'm still at the liquid stage so I do still feel hunger and cravings. Some of it may be head hunger and I'm beginning to learn the difference. At first my family was against this surgery and I had to keep on it because I knew this would help me. Already my diabetes meds have been reduced by more than half and I have lost 40 lbs since the beginning of this journey 15 lbs since surgery date! No regrets at all!!! I wish you luck Pat on your upcoming surgery and just acknowledge to your family that you hear their thoughts but you are doing this for you and you would like them to be there for you if not you've got us!!! :)

If this is what you need to be healthy then it's the right thing to do. I lost my mother to obesity at thrashed of 56 and I have 3 young children and am not going down that road. The closer it gets the more scared I am. I don't believe it is something you will regret and I think those that are against it will see how much happier you will be. That is what I'm tying to stay focused on besides Jesus. I pray everything goes well for you.

Hi Pat. The friends in this forum are here for you. We try our best to be encouraging and uplifting. Just keep reminding yourself that this decision is for you. And remind yourself why you want this. As times goes by and you recover your friends and family will see how much better you feel. If they haven't known why its like to struggle with their weight and health and they haven't known anyone who has had a WLS it can be hard to wrap their head around. But they'll get there.

Keep us updated. We will be your cheerleaders. Go Pat go!

Jen

With water I usually grab a water bottle and sip for a few hours . Than my protein I dump a already made one in my Blender Bottle and sip for a couple hours .. So my question is should I premeasure water and protein for an hour or by ounces? How do you guys do it?? So sorry if I confused anyone reading this! I am a little light headed

Today I just made my Protein Shake, split it in half (a full one is 8oz), drank half, and put half in the fridge. Then I went back later and finished it. I use milk so I assume mine would be extra super gross after being left out for a while.

I just hope I am not stretching it out by not knowing how many ounces I am getting an hour or so... I started sipping one at 8:45 and finished around 11:15 am.. Don't know if it's just me thinking too much about it lol all this time at home has my brain going bananas lol

I know my shakes are 11oz and sip on it til I'm too full. Then refrigerate it for a bit. Pull it out n sip more. Once it's all gone I log a complete shake. I drink til I'm full, though.

However, I'm gonna have to start measuring 3oz portions of my Soups Bc I get too full and it hurts if I don't.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
