I DARE another person to tell me it's the easy way out. I've experienced an exorbitant amount of pain. Then nausea and dry heaves. Then I just had such pain that it took a large dose of morphine to take the edge off.

So freaking annoying! My own mom was talking to my aunt in the phone saying I don't know what kind if surgery that was because she looks the same. Arg!!! Here's the silver lining when you are looking better and healthier than them they won't question you they will ask for tips! Keep doing what you doing and put a mute button on the haters!!

Yeah. Anyone who accused me of taking the easy way out the last time (band) isn't around this time. No one will understand unless they ensure it themselves.

Yeah. Easy way out my as5. I mean, minus the nausea and gas pain, I'm doing pretty good. But f them if anyone thinks it's easy.

Had a bad day. Someone very close to me was telling me how I should & shouldn't eat after surgery. UGH! I know people care but people who have not experienced a weight issue shouldn't be giving out advice. This is NOT the easy way out and I don't need to be told how to do this. I'm different than everyone else. Also I'm a grown woman and make my own choices. Just tired if judgement. Sorry for venting.

You cannot let those people into your head. Tune them out. You know what you're doing and you can control this. My family has been giving me "advice" my entire life and it makes me want to stuff a pizza pie down my throat. That could be what got us here today. But you made that huge jump to a new life and you better do everything you can with this second chance. I cannot wait to be on the other side of this journey. So happy for EVERYONE!!! Your stories and posts give me hope!

Morning all- day 9 and down 18 since 1st pre- op appt. And 10 since surgery. Crazy! My parents went back to Arkansas yesterday and it's just me and my girls now. I had my first kind of depressed day; felt kind of empty and wanted to eat something solid ( more like trigger food) so bad. I kept hearing my NUT explain why it's so important to follow food plan. Yet, I wanted to really eat. I'm starting to see how eating has been such a way to deal with anything uncomfortable. My body is not hungry, yet I'm obsessing about food. This was my first day doing everything: carpool, job, take kids to after school activities, went to restaurant, and i started to see how different life is going to be. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy and kind of shocked by the weight loss, but don't want to sabotage myself yet again. Anyone having these type of thoughts?

Hey guys. Last night was pretty good. Was able to sleep in my own bed got up several times to go to the barroom and walk. The pain medicines knock me out still. So am only taking half doses. Things are pretty good here on my day 2 after surgery. Gas x is my friend:) and walking around the house helps a lot too.

Hey All. I'm feeling a little better every day. I didn't post much because I didn't want my experience ruining anyone else's. I had a hard time after surgery. It was bad. The day after was one of the worst days of my life. I was going through the same things as Super. Violently dry heaving, severe nausea, severe pain. Today I am 3 days post op and feeling a ton better.

Question - when you drink anything, no matter the temp or flavor - when it hits your stomach, do you get a weird, almost painful sensation? My dr says it's normal, but I wanted to hear if anyone else is experiencing this too?

I'm told that's normal by the nurses on staff here and by my surgeon. Another thing, sweet tastes make me gag. A lot. Popsicles, Jello, crystal lite. All of it seems like the sweetness is magnified. I can only use enough Mio or crystal lite to barely turn my Water pink.

Hi Glitter, sorry to hear it was rough, but glad to hear you are doing better. Yes, I had a painful sensation when swallowing. It would last about a couple of seconds and then go away. At first it was with every swallow. Now it only happens if I take too big of a swallow and is getting better every day. To me it feels like the liquid goes down and sits on top of the entrance to the stomach and slowly drips into the stomach. As the swelling goes down, it gets better. It still happens with Water if I forget to take tiny sips. I miss being able to gulp cold water down.

Yes I do. It is a strange sensation. But it does go away

Hey Glitter,

Glad to hear you are feeling better. My second day post-op was definitely one of the hardest days of my life. Coming from six previous surgeries (including band placement, removal, and a c-section) I was shocked at how hard of a time I was having. I thought this would be a breeze compared to a c-section. Boy was I wrong!

Now I'm a week out and feel like a new person. The difference just a few days has made is pretty amazing. I also had that weird pain when drinking. But we soon I learned the balance between just enough and too much intake it seemed to get better. I have experienced it in a day or two. I am also able to take bigger sips now than I first could. So it will hopefully get better for you soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
