Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

All my pre op tests are done, insurance approved surgery date 2/25. I have to be at the hospital @ 5:45 AM 1st sleeve of the day. I start my liquid diet on 2/15. I am a bit scared, nervous, anxious, excited. It also doesn't help that my wife is also getting scared and second guessing the whole thing, She is my ROCK and I need her support. She is afraid of losing me, kids losing there dad, or see me go thru this and it not work. I keep telling her I'll be fine and it WILL work, I will make it work. Good luck to everyone.

Hahaha. As if being on the 'quids isn't rough enough. Our hospitals pavilion where we get our pre-op tests done just opened a subway in place of their cafe. Everywhere I went smelled like fresh baked bread. I wanted to smack someone.

I'd have snapped!!! Lol

Just remember, it's normal to get the last minute jitters. This is a major surgery and is life changing. Just gently remind your wife and yourself WHY you are doing this surgery and the wonderful outcome.

Good luck, we'll be here cheering you on.

So I'm at the hospital getting pre op lab work or whatever done. Appt was at 1.45, and I've had to be fasting for 14 hours. I'm about to stab someone if they don't hurry and get this crap done so I can go home and "eat"! Hahaha. Crabby patty is coming out.

:)

I just laughed out loud on the train at this!

Hello everyone I will be sleeved on 02/24 in New Lenox, IL. I go for my pre-op class tomorrow. I am excited and scared all at the same time. I just wish that it would stop snowing by then. I can not wait to get to the loser's bench.

Hey Daunique 1! I'm getting sleeved 2/17 at Silver Cross in New Lenox! Who's your surgeon?

The preop class is very informative. I just went last week. I'm on the preop liquid diet right now.

Hi all- tomorrow is the big day! It was almost cancelled because my doctor had a personal issue that's taken him out of town. So another doctor, Clark Warden, will sleeve me tomorrow morning. I had a bit of a freak out this morning. Parents came in from out of town, children's schedules made, groceries bought. Just couldn't deal with having to postpone. I am anxious but ready. Blessings to all having your surgery tomorrow. Thanks for the support. P.s. Could eat the paint off the walls I'm so hungry with the clear liquid only today.

Bahahahahhahahahaha. Yeah. I was more pissed that I had to actually make an appt for this blood work, and they were late. And that I had to fast for 14 hours. Lol

I know. Isn't it hard enough? Isn't it already a sacrifice. My labs weren't fasting labs so I was ok, but dayum

When I walked into my surgeons office my theme song was playing. SexyBack. Okay, it's not my theme song...yet! But it really was playing in the waiting room and made me laugh. Got the final green light to go Thursday. We just had to get the pregnancy test back. Let me tell you how not thrilled I was to think this I might be prego and have to postpone. Told the doc I was getting anxious. He added Xanax to my script and sent me on my way. Party!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
