You know, I wake up a lot at night with quite a bit of hip pain. I never attributed it to possibly having something to do with weight loss. Interesting, I am curious to see what others have to say.

I've actually read this elsewhere on this thread somewhere. All of your bones and joints have had to accommodate extra weight, and they're now shifting to accommodate your rapid weight loss. I wonder if chiropractic care would help alleviate the pain at all.

You may want to see an orthopedic specialist for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan and not go for just symptomatic relief from a chiropractor. Could be a lot of arthritis caused by joint damage.

I just saw this post. I'm two months out from surgery today. Loss of 36 pounds, and lately, I find that my joints are sore after sleeping, or lying around for to long. I was wondering if it was from the weight loss as well.

Thanks for posting the question.

Happens to a lot of us.. When I was about two months out my left hip was in excruciating pain every time I tried to walk.. For me it was scary because I have metal pins in that hip from when I was a child and haven't had this pain since then.

Tests and ex-rays later nothing was found...

I did a search on here and voila! Lots of people with "normal" hips had the same problem, about the same time. I took it to mean shifting weight shifting way our body's "carry" it and losing weight causes different center of gravity and different (and temporary) aches and pains..

As quick as it came.. It left! Good luck :)

I am 4 months out, down about 56 lbs and have noticed the past couple of weeks that my hips have been achy as well. Mostly when I first get up of a morning and then when I sit for long periods of time, which is a lot, since I have a desk job. I try to be as active as I can while at work, but sometimes it's just not possible..

Have you started walking alot? My hips and knees hurt when I need new running shoes. Give that a try.

Also, I get bursitis in my hip joints. After my sleeve surgery and increasing my walking my bursitis started up again. Cortisone shot helped tremendously.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
