clb 0 Posted March 13, 2007 Ok-I get why we can't drink with meals and for 30 minutes after eating. But what is the rationale for not drinking 30 minutes BEFORE meals?:think (First fill Wednesday....nervous about eating after that!!!):paranoid CLB
travelgirl 3 Posted March 13, 2007 No idea. My doc told me that he WANTS me to drink at least 8 ozs of Water, tea or other non-caloric liquid right before I eat, and once I pick up my fork or spoon to eat, to stop drinking until 30 to 45 minutes after I finish eating. He says that when the stomach is empty, and you drink, that the Fluid should pass through the band, and shouldn't interfere with a meal eaten afterward. Sorry I couldn't really answer your question. 2bthinagn 3 Posted March 13, 2007 Maybe they dont want us to be so full of liquid that we dont eat our Protein. Thats my thinking.
erintherd 1 Posted March 13, 2007 Drinking before your meal will effect your fullness. This is far more important when you are eating 1/2-3/4cup per meal. You need to be getting in those meals to stay well nourished. e
FurEllie 0 Posted March 14, 2007 We were told no drinking for an HOUR before or after. That's going to be one of the hardest things. I will admit I'm going to cheat if there's a wine pairing dinner, but that only happens about twice a year
FurEllie 0 Posted March 14, 2007 Fur... Might want to be careful with that. Lots of people PB if they drink with food. If I eat tuna and drink Water I PB in seconds. But then I PB all the time anyway come to think of it! Seriously, on another board we were talking about this. Seems as though some people won't PB with liquid/food and some do. Well crap. I thought it was just so you weren't pushing the food down I'll try once or twice with ONE glass of wine and see how it goes. Would be a shame to waste an entire meal of wine if it's just going to come back up. Thanks for the warning!!
maziemommy 8 Posted March 19, 2007 I think that Bubblebutt is right on...if there is Water there when you eat it washes down faster and more....makes you eat more and be hungry!!! Defeats the purpose of being banded ..of course if you are choking a bit a sip may help, but I would not make a habit of it!!
