Day 28 Since Sleeved And 1 1/2 Stall...discouraged

Recommended Posts

I'm so frustrated and discouraged. My hubby said this probably wouldn't work and I'm starting to believe him. I drink 60 ounces of crystal light Water, 60 ounces of Protein and walking 45 minutes a day. I've been 244 now for 1 1/2 weeks. I haven't measure yet because I don't have a tape measure... ugh!

They say there is a three week or four week stall. Just keep doing what your doing! Your body is adjusting...And thank hubby for all his support...sorry that was sarcasm...Believe in yourself! This WILL work!!!!

I'm really trying, but I guess I just thought I would lose 1 pound in 1 week, but nothing. I'm trying not to cry and be upset, but I am.

Check the forms for 3 week stall. You are not alone. Many go through this. It can happen and most likely will to everyone at some point. I'm 3 months post op and have just hit my first stall. No a pound lost all last week :( Keep doing what your doing and you'll come outta it. If you look for a thread called Attention this is a public notice about stalls you'll find good info on there. Hope this helps. Good luck :)

I was 3 wks yesterday. Just got out of a stall that I had been in for 11 days. Stalls will come and go. Stick to ur diet plan. Ur body is going through shock and when u changes textures it shocks it again. Stay strong! Its a long process not an instant fix. My SIL is 6 mos out and just now at 53 lbs down. Ppl will loose weight at different stages. No one is identical.

Don't be discouraged, you had major surgery and on top of that, you drastically changed your nutritional and caloric intake. Your body at some point, as mentioned, usually around the third or fourth week, is going to say, whoa, what is going on here? I need to take a break, slow down, regulate myself and get adjusted to all of these changes. It's okay, that doesn't mean your period of weight loss is over. I promise, just keep following your surgeons eating plan and the weight will start coming off again. In the meantime, don't forget to take your measurements. There will be times when changes aren't reflected on the scale, but are reflected in loss of inches.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
