4 Days Post Op...4 Long Days

Recommended Posts

I am finally home again. My surgery was on November 20th and was told that it was successful. I was also told that I had some problems with my oxygen levels and was kept in post op care for about an hour longer then normal. I remained in the hospital for 2 nights. I stayed on oxygen the whole time. With out oxygen my stats would drop to about 80. Once I was able to maintain at 94 or above, I was able to go home. Pics was discharged around 130 pm on Friday and came straight home to rest. I was able to maintain Clear liquids 1 oz every 15 min. I did great for the rest of the day and fell asleep ok. I woke up around 3 in the morning and my chest was tight, not painful, it was like I couldn't take a deep enough breath to satisfy my body. I waited Till about 9 am and called my surgeon who told me she wanted me to go to the ER. My husband took me to the ER amend my surgeon had already called in the orders. I was quickly put on oxygen and did an EKG. Everything on the EKG looked good. I was then sent for a die contract cat-scan. The cat-scan showed a small amount of Fluid in the bottom of my lungs. The new concerns were post op pneumonia or heart failure.

It was then decided that I needed to be admired for observation over night. My surgeon requested continues blood draws to monitor any changes. Every test came back with excellent white blood cell count.. No pneumonia or infection. The gnr tests were showing high which tests the amount of fluid in my body. I was like 8 times the normal amount. Overnight I was on pain management and regular blood draws. My lungs and heart sounded good when listened to. The docs gave me a diabetic so That I could pee away the extra fluid. My tightness of breath got better. I was also told that dillaudid can cause slowed breathing. My last tests came back good and my fluid levels were back int the norm. I am now home and resting I can take a deep breath without pain and it feels so good

My goodness! You poor thing! Glad to hear you are home and on the mend! Just please take it easy... Congestive heart failure is no joke. Just make sure to get up and move when you can then rest up in between. You're in my prayers.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
