I Dont Feel Good

Recommended Posts

Had my sleeve on 11/15/13 so I am 9 days out. I have some really sharp gas pain but really that is about it for pain. I don't have fever and I am drinking at least 8 cups of Fluid every day. The problem is I just have NO energy, exhaustion and always on the verge of tears.

There is nothing really wrong with me. I have a wonderful husband and family. I just want to sleep and cry.

Anybody else feel this way? Should I call my doctor?

Each day will get better. I'm still at 3 months out down 50 lbs some days unable to get in the correct portions of everything. Something I really didn't understand counting the hours in a waking day and spacing drinking and eating out. But I did my very best and each day I learned a little more and was patience with the process and you will be OK.. For me it wasn't text book as I read from some others. My energy didn't fully come back until about a month or more. But everyone is different. Be patient.

gourmetone had good advice. You've just undergone major surgery. Don't expect to spring back overnight. You will get there. Are you walking?

Both of you just had major surgery...you are supposed to be tired! Take it easy and get lots of rest. I didn't feel up to doing a lot for 2-3 weeks. Try not to compare yourself to others, it will only bring frustration. This is not a race! Slow and steady is my motto. This is the beginning of a new journey. Take time to enjoy and learn your new tool, as this wiil assist in your success.

I was sleeved on 11/14, so we're close.

I tire easily and that's to be expected. I listen to my body. If I feel like I need a nap, I take a nap. If I get 1/2 the dishwasher emptied and I'm tired, I stop and I come back to it later.

I am walking a lot. I try to walk about one mile twice per day along with my other activities. Some days I don't get both in. Each day I just do the best I can. Yesterday I spent 7 hours in a gym for a basketball tournament and walked more than I had since surgery. I was exhausted and probably overdid it. I came home and took a nap.

For the emotions - I worse immediately after surgery. I seriously considered backing out of the surgery the day before. The next few days I was filled with remorse. I kept saying to myself, "What have you done to yourself?" But I find that each day gets better, especially after I accepted the fact that I went thru this and continued to think about the reasons why I did this.

I think you'll find the emotions will will lighten up. I know I've been quicker to snap at my husband or son in the past few days. I try not to, but it is what it is. I'm working on it.

I wish you luck! This is a long journey filled with self-discovery!

Y'all just had major surgery, of course you feel icky. Totally normal. Just take it easy, pamper yourselves, and rest. The first month is bad, but it gets better. Just follow your doctor's orders as best you can. Get in your Fluid like you have been doing and your Protein. Don't second guess yourself. Best of luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
