How Many Times Do You Go #2?

Recommended Posts

I seem to be only having a bm once every 5-6 days. Maybe in part because I'm still on liquids and mushies? I've had this horrible pain in my side that I thought was Constipation so I took a laxative. Big mistake. I had horrible tummy cramps and diarrhea for the next 2 days. But lost 3 lbs so there's that. It's Sunday evening now and I haven't gone since Thursday. Is this normal you think? What are you all doing to stay regular ? I don't get a lot of Fiber in because I'm concentrating on Protein. And I really don't want to take another laxative.

Welp, I just went for the first time in about 3 days. Same diet as you. I had the brilliant thought to add a cup of coffee this morning and that moved everything along. Sigh. You're right. There's very little fiber to be had here.

I am about 5 months now and don't have any problems at all now. In the beginning I had the same thing. When I went to WLS support groups they all said use Miralax. It comes in a bottle and it is white powder that you put in Water. It worked great. Once you start eating more full foods it will get better.

did the miralax give you cramps and other issues. On the risk of being tmi, after I took the laxative, there were a couple of times I didn't make it to the potty in time. I soooo would not want that to happen now that I'm back at work!

yes! That's what always did it for me before surgery. It was my am routine. Cup of coffee and trip to the bathroom. I haven't been having my am coffee because I've traded it for a Protein Shake but tomorrow I'm trading back to coffee and I'll do the Protein shake at work.

I've been having only one cup since about a week after surgery. Today I had TWO. Hoo doggy, did that ever make a difference. Also, see your miralax experience. It was a close thing.

I'm allowed 60 grams of carbs per day, and I make use of them to eat stuff to keep me regular - I usually have Beans and prunes every day, plus occasional servings of stuff like a quarter cup of frozen berries blended into my Protein Shake or some cruciferous veggies with dinner. Also have black coffee every day and a chewable probiotic. I don't take laxatives or stool softeners and I poop every day (no such thing as TMI here, right?). I think some of that is poop-promoting diet choices and some is just that I'm lucky enough to have a digestive system that has always, pre and post-sleeve, functioned like clockwork and never given me any troubles whatsoever. Oh and exercise is good for healthy bowel functioning too! Exercise every day and that will help for most folks.

I had a real problem with Constipation after surgery. I used 1/2 dose of Miralax a couple of times then I started adding powdered fiber to my yogurt, pudding and cottage cheese. It is tasteless. I get mine from Whole Foods. I also take one stool softener and probiotic a day. Now things are moving well.

I had to take milk of magnesia for the first time in my life. It was that or seek medical aid...

It worked without cramping but was still a production! Lol I am determined to not let that happen again as I have never thought or talked about BMI's so much!

I need to start the Vitamins, however they have Iron and I need to get regular before I start taking them again...

This is a "crappy" situation and I am "pooped" just talking about it. No shit...

I take a probiotic daily now. I started at 2 months out and it helps so much. I added fiber powder to my coffee for a month then decided I couldn't afford the carbs. I get around 15 grams of fiber now so with that and the probiotic its been smooth sailing. :)

For me it was 3 days post op. But I also did a cleanse before my big day so I really didn't have much to begin with.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
