What Are You Packing For Lunch?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be sleeved on December 17th. I pretty much have no choice but to return to work on January 2nd which will place me right in the middle of purees. I'll be on purees for a week and then transition to soft food once my doctor allows it. I have a private office and access to a fridge and microwave.

I've got a bunch of stage 2 Ella's pouches coming which I though would be more discreet than a baby for jar and plenty of espresso spoons to work with. I'll be drinking the majority of my Protein in Isopure drinks so I can hydrate and get my protein and not stress out so much on eating tons of protein.

Does anyone have great easy to make and pack ideas for work lunches and Snacks during purees and soft foods?

From what I'm reading the following are good, but I want more ideas. Thanks in advance!

1) Refried Beans and a little cheese

2) Cottage cheese

3) String cheese

4) Greek yogurt

5) Shelly's Baked Ricotta-- http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html

For the soft phase I did.... tuna, crab, Greek yogurt, of course my shakes, Jello, sugar free apple sauce. I was out almost a month though. However I still keeps "back ups" at my desk. All the best !!

I posted a few recipes for purée things that you put in muffin cups, during my purée phase. pumpkin ricotta, chicken burrito, chicken rice, and another one. You will find them if you search the food and nutrition section for my posts. One muffin cup = one serving and I was aiming for 6 per day.

You can freeze them all and just microwave them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
