The Bean....another gimmick?

Recommended Posts

My friend is a pilates instructor and she recommended the bean for ab work. She said it works similarly to the exercise ball but gives more support and stability. It's better for people with lower back problems. I haven't bought it yet as I have a lot of financial stuff coming up with my brother's wedding, but I'm planning to. It sounds like a really good investment.

I do have it and only used it once (pre-op). What annoyed me the most was the skinny people on the video. I just could not attain that balance and poise. I was flip floppin all over the place. If they had a video with REAL people using it, I'd try again. I will however try to use it to sit on, I did hear that's good core workout without really "working out" per se.

I wonder if there are any excercise ball videos for overweight people the way Richard Simmons did Sweatin to the Oldies...*crosses fingers*

I doubt that the "skinny" people looked graceful the first time that they used the Bean.

It takes time to get the hang of it. Those folks are professionals. If you look at the before and after pictures I bet those people were also floppin' all over the place on their first try.

As a future former big girl, I know that I look "un-athletic" doing any type of exercise - for now. I keep plugging away though and it is getting better.

Give it some more time before you beat yourself up because you don't look like the people in the video. Good luck. :biggrin1:

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
