The Weird Noises My Stomach Makes When I Eat Or Drink

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on 11/19. Stayed in hospital for 2 days. I still cant get in all my fluids or Protein. Today, I downed 2oz of light yogurt and 2 oz of sugar free pudding. While it was going down, my stomach was making the most horrendous noises. Is that hunger pains? food looks good to me, but I am not hungry. The same thing happens when I drink. Then I start to burp right after drinking. This is so annoying.

I am taking a nexium each morning.

I also have NOT pooed since the Monday before surgery( 11/18)

The gurgling is normal. I have difficulty getting all my liquid and Protein in too. Went to Walmart yesterday and bought liquid whey Protein Shots. 3.8oz and has 42g of protein.

I'm 6 months post op & my stomach still makes weird gurgling/growling noises when I'm eating sometimes. People around me can hear them - quite embarrassing; don't know what causes it. Don't think it is hunger pains but I don't know what it is - maybe someone else can enlighten me.

I also had the Constipation problem after surgery. I had to take a Fiber supplement and an occasional laxative per my dr's directive - things were very uncomfortable for a while. After about 3 months my diet improved where I was getting enough Fiber naturally to make all normal again thankfully.

Go to the drugstore NOW and get (and take) some Miralax and stool softeners. Fecal impaction is a real worry -- I know, it happened to me. And it wasn't pretty. That could be the reason you can't eat much and your stomach makes such noises.

At 6 months my stomach still makes noises. GasX strips can help. I also added Probiotics and that has helped.

Yep - still get the gurgling and the burp, for me, means time to stop - you are now full.

It's just the new normal, not a big deal really.

I am 13 months and I only have a BM about twice a week. I use a stool softener average once or twice a week. It has gotten better as I was taking Miralax 3 days out of 7 for quite a while, so it has improved but still definitely not as regular as I used to be.

Eventually things will get back to normal. It's common to have the "two cats fighting" noises coming from your gut for a while. Once you heal and your body gets used to the sleeve things will be pretty much like before.

I'm 1 month and 4 days out and my stomach has recently started doing this. It's not painful and it's always after I eat. I do believe its due to digestion. But it is a tad embarrassing when your stomach sounds like you ate Chewbacca.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
