Bra After Surgery?

Recommended Posts

Ladies, were you able to wear an underwire bra immediately after surgery. I'm pretty self conscious about my large saggy boobs. Don't wanna accidentally slap a nurse in the face with these potato sacks.

I didn't have any problems, none of my incision sites were anywhere near the girls ;)

I am normally the same way you are, but I could have cared less after surgey. One of my incision sites was right where the bridge of my underwire bra hits. But it didn't bother me at all.

I wore a no wire bra. But then again, I am the only flat chested plus size girl out there.

One incision was right at my underwire line. I took an old bra and made a small cut at the top and removed the underwires. Not so perky but kept the girls controlled...

Worked perfectly!

I do have an incision right between my breasts. And was afraid of it rubbing my incision so I kept mine off.

I couldn't do it. I have big girls. .I'm talking like 44F. I just didn't care..nurses have seen it all.

I did bring it with me, as I have a totally under wire free one but just wasn't up to having something so constricted around me.

I should also say that most of my incisions were within reach of the girls. .and I was do covered with bandages etc that I needed to move the girls off to the side for the incision checks. Had I had a bra on, that would be totally not have happened. I would say no to an under wire of your anywhere near my size. Maybe an all cotton bra yeah.

I could wear my bra, no problem. And being a 36GG, it was important to keep those puppies contained.

I was in the hospital the day of surgery, and I was in gown.

I spent that night and most of the next day at the hospital, being released around 10PM.

I didn't wear a bra at all during that time, because I wasn't allowed.

Once coming home, I literally didn't wear one for about two weeks.

I was able to take off from school, so I could just lounge all the time at home.

One time I tried wearing one, and the incision where the breasts meet, kinda hurt.

My sides where the band was at hurt as well, especially due to the machine / food gas pains.

I bought a couple of no-wire, fasten in front cotton comfort/leisure bras and was glad I did. I had an incision right where the underwire would have been sitting and it would have HURT! And the last thing I cared about was my modesty around the nurses. The bra I had with me in the hospital was enough to keep me contained so I wouldn't slap anyone (or myself) in the eye and that was good enough for me.

I also have and incision right between my breasts and one on the left side although a bit lower. I thought they might interfere with my underwire bra but they didn't. You'll just have to see how your body shape is with where the incisions are. I'd say plan on being OK with the ones you wear but be flexible if you have a couple different styles - one might be OK, the other not.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
