Yes, I like to hear the positives as well as the negatives. However, don't encourage others not to do one then the other. There is complications with any surgery. Even if its a removal of your tonsil. Things happen and we hope the best and pray for success. People generally knows the risks, trust and believe me when I say, "Your surgeon will or have sat with you to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of all the W.L. procedures...at least the one you've chosen or was recommended." This site is a support site, keep stories coming good or bad, however, don't discourage others not to do it because you or someone you know may have had complications. Again, with any surgery complications is sure to follow. "I'm sorry for all the people whose had any sort of complications. My heart does goes out to you." However, let me take my chances and cross the bridge once I get there. If I don't do this, I may have even more problems...bigger ones with this weight I'm carrying. Either way I'm in a danger zone, and this tool which ever I choose will help me. "If I'm not living, then I'm dying, therefore, I'm ready to LIVE, if I die trying, then at least I tried." Just speaking my mind...not trying to offend anyone. If so, then I apologize, but truth be told.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
