Ok, so I'm 6 weeks out and one or two things have made me feel a bit queasy such as milk, Cereal (even with almond & lactose-free milk). Eating too much is a learning curve too as that makes me feel horrible. But I hadn't felt dumping until tonight and yuk it was horrible.

I went out for a Chinese with my family, I obviously ate heaps less than I would have done before the RNY but I did have those couple of extra mouthfuls after I knew I was full. Well, well, well ... queasy, shaky, heart racing, clammy and just plain blah!

I guess I do 'dump' after all. No diarrhoea thank goodness but to be honest, my bowels don't move much anyway so I can't imagine anything less than a tummy bug would cause that with me (TMI, sorry) :-)

Oh my... I'm sorry you're not feeling well! Dumping is NOT fun! Whenever I've dumped in the past, hot tea has always helped. The heart racing stinks, but it does ease up. To me, that was the worst part. I hope you feel better very soon!

Thank you! It was horrible. This morning I tried cereal again and my poor pouch gurgled and grumbled all day - so I threw what was left in the bin. I think it's safe to say I'll be keeping my distance from chinese food in future too :-) It really was a horrible feeling and lasted about an hour. Once it wore off, all I wanted was a nice cup of tea, lol.

Just came home from work after two hours. Major dumping, used all my breaktime for the first half of the day within one hour after I got to work. Here is the kicker, my normal Breakfast, Decaf coffee with Protein, so haven't a clue if I might be coming down with a bug (was exposed to the flu a week or so ago, but got a flu shot). I don't get shakey, or get the sweats, but major diarrhea (Sp) this morning and a rolling stomach. I'm use to dumping, as have had it with my diabetes for years, but since bypass I'm doing good if I go every other day, but I have discomfort with the colon now. Like it isn't use to the muscles pushing or straining. Since I am use to dumping, I'm somewhat glad when I have it. Constipation was never a problem with me, and that is how I feel now since I have to from 1-7 times a day to maybe once every two-three days. This might be TMI, but totally amazed how our body changes with the bypass.

UK-RNY ,

Sorry to hear about this experience , I had RNY and I take it you had the sleeve so i am unsure if this applies? at six weeks i was told to measure everything because the nerves in the pouch were severed and you cannot judge the sensation of fullness properly.

As to your lack of regularity I have been adding a Fiber additive ( sugar-free orange Metamucil) to my vanilla flavored Protein shakes since day one and it keeps me on schedule like the trains (TMI so sorry )

I also tried tried Chinese take away about 3 months out . I had General Taos Tofu 3 or 4 small chunks and i was happy as a clam . Next day tried the same amount for lunch and it stuck like a car in rush hour traffic .. It was horrible , since then i have been unable to work up the nerve to try any again. I hope this is not permanent , I love Chinese food.

Have a great day ,

RJ

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
