veronicav75 35 Posted November 22, 2013 Ok so here is my issue... I my past pregnancies I tested positive at 8 wks, didn't have symptoms up until that point. I had RNY 5 1/2 years ago, my youngest is 15 1/2 years old and I am 1 week late. I took a urine HCG test and tested negative twice now. Has anyone else had issues with testing positive when actually pregnant? Or does anyone know of anyone that had RNY that had that issue. I have had every symptom of early pregnancy to accompany the negative tests. I can't find anything online regarding post WLS and HCG testing have efects on each other. Everywhere I look it says HCG isn't affected by the surgery, although we all know that WLS play with our hormones and HCG is a hormone our body produces. Any Ideas? jerzeygirl81 37 Posted November 24, 2013 I think it's a bit early to test positive. You said you're only a week late? If so, I'd wait another week or two before retesting.
SoccerMomma73 1,867 Posted November 24, 2013 The surgery really shouldn't make a difference. The HCG is made by the placenta (or pre-placental cells early on). Those levels shouldn't be effected at all by the RNY. If you're a week late any good pregnancy test should be picking it up by now, I'd be hitting up my doc if I really thought I was pregnant.
