I'm Having A Minor Melt-Down

An I wrong in consigning some of my nicer clothes? I figure at the right shop, I can consign nicer items, get a little more in store credit to help me purchase some transition clothes. We all have soooo much $$ tied up into this weight loss.

I think it's a very good idea. I wanted to do that too but then my husband said oh we'll make more with a tax write off. Then tonight he talked to our CFO and it's so danged cumbersome I'm not sure we will be able to really claim all of it. So now I want to consign or just sell it. Not sure what we will do. Whatever if is, I have to do it tomorrow! The boys will be home and there are clothes all over one's bed and all over the game room.

If you can consign, for sure, do it.

I've donated 280 pounds of clothes so far. Most went to a battered women's shelter where I volunteer. A carload went to Dress for Success, some went to friends and the rest went to a church group who donates to various charities.

It was so hard at first because of the little voice in my head that told me that I would be back in those sizes one day, but I refuse. I FRICKING REFUSE.

I still need to clean out all my winter clothes and sweaters and then on to the jackets and coat. I have a basket in my closet where I dump clothes immediately after putting them on and then seeing that they are even slightly too big.

I'm done being fat, dammit. DONE.

I wanted to donate to dress for success. But it's been near impossible to get an appt with them. Maybe I'll try again. I think it's a very worthwhile cause.

Mine are likely going to the store run by the orphanage in town.

I'm one week post op today and we are heading home tomorrow from Las Vegas.

I told my husband that there are 3 pairs of pants I can leave here because they no longer fit. I'm not even looking back!!!!! LOL.

I can't wait to get home and clean even more things out of my closet. I will, in no way, shape or form be able to compete with you! Good God that's a lot of clothes!

But know that someone else is getting a bounty when you give them! Your good deed.

My SIL had a Bypass a month after I was sleeved so she gets all my clothes! She's so freaking happy!! She doesn't have to buy anything until she hits goal. Even then she will still fit into some of them. And I get to see them looking awesome on her now:) lol

I asked our housekeeper if maybe other people had that many clothes. She looked at me with love, smiled, and said "I think you're special" :) What's weird is I hate clothes shopping. No idea how I gathered that many. I kept trying to blame my husband for having bought those for me, but he says he's never even seen some of those. (I know it's my fault, but it's fun to tease him).

I was banded 4 years ago and had a TON of clothes to donate!!! Some items I still haven't parted with! I just had plastic surgery and have 2 more bags ready to go!! I also have a bin of clothes I need to try on once the swelling goes down!!! It's all a part of the journey!! Everyone knows to get me visa gift cards for Christmas this year!!! :-)

What all did you have done with your plastics? How cool that you're at goal and done with PS too!

Mine are back from the early 90s. And I am my housekeeper. :D

That was my defense too! That it was YEARS of clothes. I'm not sure anyone is buying that, but it's true.

I'm tempted to tell you to send them to me…but that's probably my fat hoarder brain talking.

besides, by the time they get to you, you will likely no longer fit them. This month, my weight loss picked up a bit. Months 2 and 3 i lost 6 lbs but suddenly this month I lost 10 lbs. I'm sure there's a stall a-coming, but all of a sudden, I'm outgrowing things quicker.

that's awesome! Roger was able to share a couple of his coats with a fellow sleever too and it was fun to see him try them on and have them fit so well.

I've made three trips to donate my size 60 and above clothing to GoodWill over the last 2 weeks. I'm flying to Los Angeles tomorrow so i'm packing and went upstairs to my storage room and realized I have 30 nice & expensive dress shirts and 2 leather jackets hanging in there. I got really sad thinking how much i had spent on all of them.

To make myself feel better about being obese I would buy new clothes all the time. Today seeing all the money invested/wasted made me feel really guilty. I know the right thing is to donate them and I will, but is it normal to feel the loss?

I think it's normal to feel a sense of loss. I am beginning to gather my size 18 clothes to donate them and like you I would shop to make myself feel better. So needless to say I spent a lot of money on very nice clothes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
