Starting Liquid Diet 11/22/2013

Recommended Posts

I'm two weeks in on the shakes and have only a few days left before surgery Dec 2. I'm doing the Bariatric Advantage shakes in vanilla and think they're really tasty! My favorite recipe is to add crushed ice, a sugar free chocolate pudding cup, 2 tbsp of PB2 and too it off with some skim milk. Blend it up and you have a yummy treat!!!

If you haven't tried PB2, I HIGHLY recommend you check it out. It's pressed peanuts with most of the oils and fats removed. Add some Water and you have delicious Peanut Butter and it's only 45 calories for 2 tbsp!!!

Good Luck! You can do it!!!

I haven't found a Protein supplement I like the taste of and am concerned about post-op. My surgery is the 13th, so I start my Clear liquids in just over a week. I was hoping to have something, I know I can handle before surgery. I've tried unjury, Optifast and Syntax nectar. I like sweet things, if that helps give anyone direction as to what I should try. One of the guys who works out recommended CytoSport vanilla flavor, but that cost $44/bag and I hate to open it, given the cost.

I am using the Bariatric Advantage chocolate and vanilla Protein. Did not sample many others but these have very little aftertaste especially after adding a little frozen fruit, But I have just finished my first day of my 14 total. Surgery is Dec 13.

How's the diet going? I finished mine yesterday and lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks. I was hoping for 25 but maybe I'll drop that today with the Clear Liquids only. I also drank the Bariatric Advantage vanilla and really enjoyed them. The last few days I was ready to have anything other than a shake but I think everyone goes through that! Today I would love to have one but I'm stuck with chicken broth and these awful Protein shooters called New whey Protein. It is the most horrible taste on Earth and tastes nothing like fruit punch as described. I just continue to hold my nose and try to let it go down my throat without touching my tongue! Lol!

Best of luck with the pre-op diet! I go in for surgery tomorrow but I'll check-in next week!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
