For Those Of Us Who Weigh Everyday, Do You Notice A Trend?

Recommended Posts

OK I admit I am a daily weigher. I work for a cardiology office and the professional scale is located directly in front of my office. So I make a point to weigh once everyday. Usually right after I have gotten to work and removed my coat(less people around to peek!) I make sure not to get in a tizzy if the scale moves a pound or two. But, what I have found is my days that the weight does come off are usually wed/thurs. I am 14 weeks out. Lost almost 20 the first 2 weeks then slow and steady since. Just under 2 pounds a week. But it never fails I get to work Monday and I haven't moved since Friday, tues I go up half a pound maybe more then BOOM wed hits and the gain plus some have gone, thurs is also a loss. Then a maintain.

Those who do not weigh everyday or are against the scale please just move on. I know there are those like me who do weigh in religiously, as before you have to take it with a grain of salt. I no longer get emotional when I step on the scale its like brushing my teeth! Just another chore. It will help me as time moves on to stay in check as maintenance looms(not even close yet). I used to be a scale avoider, that is how I got to my highest weight, I buried my head in the sand. Didn't listen when thigns got tight just went and got a bigger size. Well that attitude is gone!

I just thought it weird how my body is behaving. I am not complaining a bit, the loss is there and I am happy for that.

I am with you 100%. I like weighing myself everyday. The scale is not my enemy. The only time in my life I stopped weighing myself was when I first met my husband. Typical romance bliss. Finally I weighed myself 2 years later and I was obese.

Bottom line is the scale is just another tool in my tool box.

I am also constantly on the scale. I use it at least twice a day lol. I have also noticed that when I do lose a few lb's is one day to the next its not a gradual thing through the week where im losing .5lb's a day.

I weigh daily and I very rarely lose a lb in a day. Usually it's .2 .4, and it slowly adds up to a 1.5 a week or so.

I am a daily weigher and I don't notice any trends. I'm still new, only 6 weeks out and it goes down a little everyday.

I just wanted to mention that I liked your comparison of your scale to brushing your teeth and another poster saying it's just another tool in her toolbox... Well said! That's how I feel too.

I'm a daily weigher too. I first use the bathroom (they say u shouldn't have a full bladder lol). Then I weigh myself. N the first month i was loosing at least 3-5 lbs a week n now I am loosing .2 to .6 ever other day or so. But I too hv noticed that all weekend I weigh the same then Tuesday comes around and the scale goes down.

I'm a daily weigher as much as I don't want to. I'm a little over 2 weeks out and getting frustrated. I've lost about 14 lbs which I know is good. But some days I'll be up 2-3 lbs and then 3 days later I'll be down 3.5. I weigh in the am when I've pottyed and I'm naked. I only record my weight when I've lost and I've noticed for some reason I weigh less in the middle of the day. I'm ready to see some bigger numbers.

I weigh twice a day. Morn and night. If I gain weight I know what food is the culprit or what trend is causing the scale to show a lower number!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
