Recommended Posts

Yeah Lisa! So glad your home and doing well. I cant wait for the day that I have to force myself to eat!!

Sue~ sorry your having some incision issues. I would say use use an antibacterial soap and vasoline. My dermatoligist said some people have reactions to triple antibiotic ointments and the like.

SpecialK~ My sister and I are gonna try to make the fashion show and meet up with the group on the 12th. She is planning on being banded at OSU.

Niki~ glad to hear you visit went so well.

I called Charlene yesterday and left a message with her about not receiving my 2nd packet yet. I didn't hear anything by about 11 this morning so I called her back.... voice mail again. So I called Melissa, she said it could take 3 weeks to hear back from them. I really dont want to make anyone mad at me and delay my wait any longer, but I am gonna bug the snot out of them if I dont hear anything by Monday!!!! I know they are so busy right now, but I have been waiting for 1 year now!!!!! I refuse to pray for patience because in my own experience, God will give me every oppernunity to learn patience, so I'm gonna pray that they hurry up!!! :}

Hi TM, I agree..just keep bugging them.

I am so mad at them right now I could just spit, I called this morning to get a list of my restrictions faxed to my job and of course got the dreaded voice mail. I left a specific list...3 things involving heavy lifting that I did not feel comfortable doing yet. When I got to work today at 3pm my boss told me that she had just got a fax from my Doctor stating that I could return to work but....... COULD NOT do any of my normal duties! I tried to call Dianna to get it corrected but just got her voice mail again. I left a message. So I was sent home, losing another days pay plus the gas driving an hour round trip. I came home and cried. There has got to be a better way. At this point I would not recommend this outfit to anyone!:bolt:

TM--the squeaky wheel gets the grease. keep on top of them.

Sue-I agree. I have been discussing this surgery with a woman at work for 6 months. all the while recommending dr choban. but finally this week i told her that in all honesty she should check out Riverside--if her insurance will allow it.

right now, i cant recommend going thru mid ohio surgical. not until they get some help or reorganize.

I hate to be negative but facts are facts.

I do have to agree they need some origanizational skills. I got my first fill on April 1st and called the next day to schedule a 6 week appointment thinking the second week of May I could get another fill. The receptionist said they were "a Little" behind on the fills so my appoint ment is JUNE 23 so that's like 9 weeks. I already feel like that is going to be too long of a wait between fills. Maybe in a couple weeks I'll call and beg to be seen sooner( Like that will help) Any way was glad the fill went well.

Well I sure feel stuck! I can't go to another surgeon and I can't talk to the one I have. I used up all of my vacation time for the surgery so this is time off without pay.

I wonder if some of what we are feeling is a post-surgery let down emotionally that we all want results FAST and each bump in the road is so hard to ride over. My best advice is to talk to your own surgeon in person and be very honest with them about how you feel. I don't see Dr. Price until next Friday but I will share the concerns I have been hearing. I'm doing fine but I really feel for those who are struggling. I will begin praying daily for peace and healing for all of us. Take care. Kathy

I just realized I should have suggested you calling Melissa Webb,RN and bariatric coordinator for Mt. Carmel and share your concerns with her too. I found her very good at listening to my concerns. I got her voicemail when I called but she did call me back the same day or next day and spent time talking with me and then had the office manager from Mid Ohio Surgical Associates call me to talk with me the next day when I was trying to get through all the insurance approvals process.

I hate to add to the mix, but I am sitting her in tears right now! Today is Friday--payday. Yahoo, right? Wrong...Mid ohio never sent my disability papers back to Mt Carmel, so I was declined...and that means no pay check for me. I even asked them yesterday if the papers were sent and she said that they were not in the "to do" pile. You can imagine my surprise when I looked at my accout and saw that not only did I not have a pay check, but all of my online bills were still sent, and I am going to have to figure out what to do next! Ugh...it just seems like it is one thing after another. Special K, this might be post surgery letdown, but it still stinks!

I don't see this as post surgery let down...it's not about my health, I'm feeling fine. It's about people having the common courtesy to follow through with simple paper work requests so that we can get back to work, get paid and pay our bills.

I am so sorry that everyone is having so many problems. It is a shame that a program with such fantastic surgeons is being brought down by their front office support, or lack of it. I agree with Kathy about calling Melissa Webb. She is very much aware of the problems going on, and actually has an upcoming meeting with the CEO of Mt. Carmel to discuss some of the issues that we are having in the program. When I have hit a wall, a phone call to her has always helped me break through it. Lets all continue to voice our concerns to our surgeons, maybe if they hear it enough they will listen and make some changes. I hope it gets better, and fast!

Ok, so I made 6 phone calls today (hey, I need my paycheck) to MidOhio and I even had Mt Carmel re-fax the paperwork...bottom line, they filled it right out, had Dr Choban sign it, faxed it right back to Mt Carmel, and I am picking up a check at 3pm for my last two weeks. Ahhhh. I feel like I can breathe now! It is funny how everyone blames everyone else when things like this happen, but Dianna at MidOhio said she never got the first fax. I have to believe her, because she was right on top of the paperwork I had her fill out before. SO, maybe it was just something that was lost in the Fax system?!?! All I know is I was very thankful as to how quickly they came together for me!

Niki and Sue -- Not getting a paycheck due to paywork issues is major so I'm so sorry for you and not getting a call back when you are worried just adds to worry. I'll keep praying that things work out and get better from here.

:cursing::redface::lol::redface::lol: Hugs to both of you!

Can someone please give me a phone number for Melissa Webb? Dianna has not yet faxed an corrected restriction list to my job so I was not allowed to work again today.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
