Whether I get the sleeve or band, I would like to tell my banders, "Thank you! from day one for all the support and advice. I made a few friends here and I enjoyed taking with you guys. I've been on the sleeve forum lately, but had to stop by and read what's good with my friends...hehehe. Ok, carry on." :)

Hi there, good for you to research everything that's out there; you will be so ready whatever you decide. Main thing is you have decided to be healthy -- you are choosing a happy future!

What made you choose the sleeve? My surgeon said that she never even recommends it cause it's far too risky..

All WLS is a risk. Some a bit more than others but they all carry risks and benefits. It is up to us to do our homework and make the very best, fully informed decision for our own bodies, health concerns and lifestyle. One surgery isn't "better" than another. One surgery is just more suitable for a particular individual.

Good luck to you, going forward, whatever procedure you choose. I hope that it is a wonderful and helpful tool to you to help you reach all of your goals. :)

My surgeon like many in South Fla no longer does the band. Too many are saying the revision rates are higher then the success rates. Thus, the band requires far more maintenance then the sleeve.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
