Nsv: Eating At A Food Court Post Surgery

Recommended Posts

I think it will be easier when we're skinnier. Because now when we say "We can't eat very much" I know they probably look at my fat butt and go....."Riiiiight. Whatever lies get you through the night lady...". Maybe when we're smaller, they'll believe us.

Bwahahaha! So funny!

If I order a Chinese combination plate it's definitely 3 days worth of food I take few bites and my husband eats the egg roll it comes with :)

We used to have Chinese a lot before the surgery. I've stayed away from it since, because I don't do well with greasy meat. Upsets my stomach. I think it's time to make it at home and start enjoying it again.

It's amazing to me how much food most Chinese restaurants give you in those combo plates, isn't it?

I picked up Panda Express for my kids and me one time this fall and ordered a 2-item combo for the three of us. The kids were upset that I hadn't bought enough, and then we ate. There was plenty there for 3 of us. I used to put away a two-item combo by myself in my 20's when I worked down the street from one of them.

It's nothing short of amazing what we consider to be normal portions in this country.

I saw it last night too. I made chili for the family and measured out 6 ounces for myself, which I couldn't finish. (Four ounces next time; still feeling my way through this!) The kids probably had at least 12 ounces; I know my husband had more like 18-24. This is by measuring cup, not weight…but the point is I ate half a cup, and they were all eating 3 to 6 times what I was. And they said they were "hungry" afterwards. Being a mean mom I handed them baby carrots and said "Knock yourselves out."

Learning new stuff every day.

My mom (who had RNY about 5 years ago) and I split a chicken enchilada Smart Ones lunch this week lol I didn't even touch the rice and there was still over 1/2 the rice left when we were done lol Yes eating is so much cheaper now :) I would have laughed to if my husband said he had dinner while I was in the bathroom lol

Luv cruising thru Trader Joes or costco on a Sat and eating "lunch" at the sample booths. Last wknd, at Trader Joes, I had almost a Thanksgiving Day meal: Turkey pot pie, cranberry sauce, carrots/green Beans with almonds and olive oil, pumpkin pudding, and a tiny little cup of coffee. I was good till dinner...

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
