Help Needed! Im So Uncomfortable

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 10/25 and have not had eegular bowel movments since. I tlkd to the dr and he suggested metamucil daily and Miralax. Neither have been working. I talked to a friend who suggested pinnaple juice, sugar free candy or prune juice. Still no relief any suggestions im very uncomfortable and want to get regular again.

Aside from what you've already been trying and lots of Water, you could try a suppository or enema if it's in the actual colon.

I know it sucks, I went like 10 days without a BM after surgery. Keep taking the stool softeners until you go so it won't be so awful to pass.

Best wishes and hang in there.

I just bought some degas tablets, which did not resolve the problem, but relieved the pain and bloating really fast. You may have to get some suppositories. They seem to work.

Peri Colace and take more then one. Are you still on liquids that would be the problem if you are not eating real food yet.

What do you mean when you say a regular bowel movement? Have you not gone at all?

Take Miralax twice a day until you have a movement. Sometimes it can take 5 days. Also, my doctor told me to add a magnesium tab every day with my Vitamins. It seems to work. Also if you weren't really regular before surgery, you'll take more help since surgery, especially ef you are taking pain medications. They slow things down a lot.

Yup colace! When anything doesn't work. I've learned with trial and error I need like Benefiber every day, otherwise colace. It's the nature of the beast. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
