Please Let The Hair Loss Stop!

Recommended Posts

I thought that if mine started to fall out it wouldn't impact me emotionally- but it is freaking me out! There is so much! I have a ton of hair, but it's kind of embarrassing at work I feel like I'm covered in it! I've been taking Biotin since like week 2, eating Protein, and thought since I wasn't losing super fast it wouldn't happen to me. But it is, and it sucks. I'm 3.5 months out... so I'm looking at another 2.5 months? Is that the consensus? It stops around month 6? Ughhhhhh. Thanks for letting me complain without reminding me that I did this to myself.

I feel the exact same way! This weekend I cut about 6 inches off. I'm hoping this will help as I was shedding every where I went!

I have posted this before but here it goes. I am using Revita Shampoo and conditioner. This will not stop loss but it is a follicle stimulator that causes regrowth quicker and stimulates follicles that haven't grown hair in a long time. My stylist told me about it and I have been using it for about 2 months now. I went to him a couple of weeks ago and had him check my head for regrowth and it is all over the place including areas that were thin before the surgery. This stuff is working for me and I am going to continue using it. You can buy it on Amazon for about $35.00 for both shampoo and conditioner. I figured if I am losing I can grow at the same time and it is working. Good luck to all of you. :)

Quick question, does your head itch at all from the regrowth? Just curious :)

No not at all. I wondered if that would be a side affect but nothing happened just new hair growth. :)

Wow, this is definitely not what I wanted to hear. I am pre surgery and I really do not want to lose any of my hair but I suppose I will have to make a choice...lose weight/lose hair VS keep hair/keep weight. I know I want the weight gone... I will learn to adjust.

Good news is it'll grow back!!! :) Bad news is you hafta lose it before it'll grow back ;) I just cut my hair off Meg Ryan style!! It makes my hair appear fuller being it's way curly.

Ugh! I'm not quite up to 3 months out yet, and my hair loss it terrible!!! I lose handfulls every time I wash, brush, or even comb my fingers through my hair! I was blessed to have really thick hair, so it's not noticeable yet. But, I am fearful every day that I'm going to wake up with a bald spot! Am taking Biotin and my doctor friend suggested eating concentrated Jello for the Gelatin. Anyone else heard of that?

Yes. Make the Jello as directed, but instead of putting it in the fridge to set drink it!

7 months out and still losing hair... i have cut it shorter and am trying different styles to cover the gaps. But have started looking at ways of supplementing my hair.< /p>

We have a place called Lucinda Ellery and they provide hair filling services for women losing hair. The results are amazing but not cheap. But am getting close to a consultation if this continues....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
