Flirting ...?

Recommended Posts

As anyone who has lost any weight received flirting yet? Today, I just experienced it for the first time, in what seems like forever. I guess I'm not sure how to deal with it. I've been married now for over 25yrs. This is foreign territory for me.

I just smile and move on. Enjoy it. It's harmless unless you choose to dwell on it or pursue it.

Yes, I kinda do enjoy it. It's just odd for me. Because, well it has been very long, but I also know if I hadn't lost any weight they wouldn't have gave me a second thought. I guess I'm feeling kinda sad how people treat each other - simply by looks. Not by personality, not by intelligence or not even by morals. Just how they appear. Some of the most "pretty" people have horrible morals and values. You know what I mean. You're treated so different when you're obese. And now that I'm getting closer to a different side,, I can see both sides. I just don't want to be that horrible person.

Well said!

It has taken me a while to even "realize" that men are flirting with me. Actually one of my daughters (who was about 11 at the time) said to me one time after an encounter at the grocery store "I think that guy was flirting with you!" and I was all "whaaa???" ...THAT is how unaware I was that it was even happening. I'm a little more in-tune with it now, but I've been happily married for over 17 years so yeah basically not interested. :D

Oh I'm definitely not interested. It's just weird for me, after 25 yrs, I'm done! Haha. It's very very weird.

In men's defense, it's not as though we can see you from across the room and know what your personality, intelligence or morals are. Can you imagine? "Hey Bob, take a look at her. I bet she's got a GREAT personality!"

it's got to start somewhere...

On the other hand, the flip side could be this: "Hey Bob, take a look at her. She can barely find the straw in her cocktail. And those tattoos! She probably has NO MORALS!" :o :P

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
