I have such envy of those of you able to roll to your side and be comfortable!

sleeping on my side in my bed will be a major milestone!

Weird - I was told to lay on my sides, not my stomach! LOL.

It gets old rolling over from side to side because my hips and back start to hurt.

I'm now three days post-op, and I've been sleeping on my side. It hurts a bit to turn from side to side, and it hurts a bit to sit upright from a laying down position, but neither are unbearable. My doc put me in an abdominal binder straight out of surgery, and I'm still wearing it now that I'm home. I think the slight pressure of that keeps everything in place and helps me feel more comfortable when side-lying.

I slept in a recliner for the first weeks. The sitting up in bed wasn't happening lol. Even after I started sleeping in bed I had to "roll" out!

I started sleeping on my side at the hospital post op. My back hurt so bad the nurse said, it will hurt getting into the position but once you get settled it will be ok. I wish I still had my pregnancy pillow because I am more comfortable with support when doing so. I put a pillow behind my back and roll up a little blanket to somewhat prop my tummy up if that makes since. I slept on the side that didn't have my drainage tube. Hope this helps.

Just wondering how long it took some of you to be able to sleep on your sides again?!!!

My backs getting real old fast !!!!

Took 8-10 days for me. Still use a very soft feathery pillow under my belly for support. I agree, it was the best day ever!

I am post-op 8 days and just last evening was I able to "tolerate" a little side sleeping...recliner helps but then you get a little neck pain...soon I'm hoping it gets better. There is one incision in particular that seems a little more sore than the others.

Getting tired of full-liquid diet however:(

I can't wait for my surgeon/NUT appointment on Friday so I can move to Stage 4. I was sleeved on 12/2.

I slept on my side in the hospital. I can't quite sleep on my stomach yet though and I am a tummy sleeper. I am three weeks out.

I was uncomfortable the first couple weeks lying on my back also. not only do I have a lower back injury but sleeping on my back is just not comfortable. It took a couple week before I felt like I could prop a pillow up between the mattress and my tummy and be comfy.

I slept so well! I slept with a pillow for about 2 additional weeks. Good luck getting comfy...

I slept with a body pillow on each side and would shift from one side to the other. Did it the first day I got home, was doing it in the hospital too... Side sleeping is the only way I can sleep and my nausea would have been even worse if I was on my back! If you can't get on your side with a body pillow tuck it under your thighs/knees when you're on your back to take the pressure off your lower back. Body pillows are my saving grace!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
